Lateral entry

I appreciate you for your desire to go for graduation in engineering in spite of doing your Diploma almost 15 years ago. But I am afraid the present situation in India or Indian Institutions is not favourable for students like you. There is an age bar beyond which you cannot even apply for many courses in India. However all is not lost. There are still enough ways by which you can learn and obtain the degree or its equivalent. What's the best possible way for you will be to go for associate membership of Institution of Engineers which is equivalent to the engineering degree or else you can think of obtaining the degree via distance education from University which has been approved by the UGC. I appreciate your efforts and your thinking in finding out information about joining engineering graduate course of aeronautical engineering after completion of your Diploma. It's Indeed good to think on these lines, but may I ask you a question. Why aeronautical engineering? As per my understanding and knowledge the prospects in this branch are not very great for placements. On the contrary the chances of employment in ECE are much greater in today's world. Hence I would sincerely advise you to look for graduation in this branch rather than in aeronautical engineering. However to come to your original query about the possibility, I will say that each state has its own equivalence table where in you can find out about in which branches you can get lateral entry based on your Diploma in ECE. This information would be readily available on the website of the technical Directorate of your state. Normally speaking the students from similar branches are allowed lateral entry into the concerned or the connected branch of engineering.
