You could go for lateral entry, but you should ensure that you block your seat at SMU. Lateral entry is normally granted to students who have a good academic record. You should check with admission authorities if you are eligible for lateral admission and then proceed further.

If you have completed your Diploma from AMU then yes you can directly start from 2nd year and it does not matter whether you do from AMU or any other. You have to qualify the engineering entrance test of AMU.

Yes Suhas, You can definitely pursue B.Tech (Lateral Entry). There are many colleges which provide the lateral entry in Delhi NCR for e.g. Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology, Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, etcetera.
