M.Tech will always make your preference over other competitors but that will all matter if you have gained knowledge like to be in M.Tech else it will just be a piece of paper with some great words.
MCA can also be enough for you if you have great knowledge of things and you have interest in that area

I do not know about other campuses of SRM but in SRM University, Delhi NCR you can get lateral entry even if you have done Diploma.

This might be true in 60% cases but not all M.Tech students get better packages as compared to B.Tech students as salary depends entirely on technical skills, experience and knowledge.
