Ocean Engineering is a job oriented field with good potential. As offshore industry is becoming commercially important in several fields like transport, trade, oil and gas, mineral exploration etc., more efficiently designed vessels and offshore facilities are the need of the day. The work of ocean engineers are mainly related to engineering fields as designers and construction supervisors, they also have scope in areas like consultancy, regulation, surveying and overseeing, research and development, education and training etc. Career paths for Ocean Engineers is so wide and can lead to many industries including governmental options. Some will focus on remote sensing, while others work on climate monitoring, environmental protection, oil recovery,marine transportation, underwater vehicle development. The work of ocean engineers play a pivotal role in transportation, energy and even the nation's defence. Great careers are open to Ocean Engineers in India and abroad in offshore drilling establishments, military and marine navigation, Oil & Natural Gas extracting companies etc.

Following is the eligibility criteria and the date is over. Diploma engineering is not prescribed as a qualification but in many cases it is considered as equivalent to 10+2 qualifying in IMUCET is mandatory for admission.
The following criteria have to be met in order to be eligible for admission into the B.Tech. Marine Engineering degree programme at Tolani Maritime Institute:
Age:
Male candidates born on or after 1st September 1996 are eligible to apply for the 2017 batch. In accordance with Government of India guidelines, there is a two year age relaxation for female candidates and girls born on or after 1st September 1994 are eligible to apply for the 2017 batch.
Minimum age of a candidate shall be 17 years.
Gender

Marital Status
Only unmarried candidates will be considered.
You must have successfully completed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with:
At least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (P, C and M) and at least 50% marks in English either in Class X or class XII.

The examination dates of TMISAT 2017 have been announced by the conducting body. The entrance exam will be held from May 2 to May 6, 2017. Tolani Maritime Institute Science Aptitude Test (TMISAT), a university level entrance examination will be conducted by Tolani Maritime Institute (TMI), for admissions to B.Tech Programmes in Marine Engineering and Nautical Technology. TMI is affiliated to Indian Maritime Institute (IMU). Before applying for TMISAT 2017, candidates need to fill the application form of IMUCET 2017, conducted by the IMU. The IMUCET Application Number will be required while filling the TMISAT 2017 application form. The online TMISAT Application Form 2017 has been released on January 5, 2017 by TMI. The last date to submit the filled-in application form for TMISAT at their national centres is scheduled to be on April 25, 2017. The deadline to send the application form of TMISAT 2017 at Induri in Pune is May 31, 2017. Admissions are also offered through the scores/ranks obtained in IMUCET (Indian Marine University Common Entrance Test) 2017. Applicants need to register themselves online and later complete filling & submitting the application form as specified. TMISAT 2017 is an online test which will be conducted for total time duration of 1 hour. The entrance exam will have questions from Physics and Chemistry from the syllabus studied in class X and XII.
