Yes it is required. In some universities you will be having maths for first 3 semesters and in some you will be having it only. For 2 years or so!
So it completely depends on which university you choose!
And coming to why maths I required here is the reason
1)To understand the process of sterilization you need to have basic knowledge of integration and differentiation.
2)In biotechnology one have to study about fermentator design & upscaling, bioprocesses, mass transfer, metabolic engineering, biochemistry, biophysics etc. So maths is required there!
3). For finding the estimation of dna, there is use of maths.
4). Calculate the composition of any culture.
5). Finding molarity, morality, normality of any solution.
6)If u placed in any industrial company there is use of maths for calculating the estimation, percentage, pH. And etc.

Although quantitative skills are required in MBA, there are other skills which are more important and demanded by prospective employers. Maths can be learnt over time, and skills in this field can be developed through studies and regular practice.
