The selection process is based on various factors Like your percentile in CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT, then your GD and PI scores, your academics, work experience and others. Minimum CAT score with which you can apply here is 50 percentile. CMAT on the other hand is lower level exam as compared to CAT, so a better percentile is expected. However, I would suggest that you should try to score good in either of the mgmt admission test. Don't think of minimum, think of what best you can do.

Frankly speaking, there is no right or wrong time when it comes to take a decision related to your studies. Just do it right now. Since you are in the second year of your degree college, start devoting some time for the preparation of the CAT examination along with your graduation college studies. And if I talk about the exam date, then it would be announced later. You have ample of time for preparing. All the best.
