Criteria are used to decide academic excellence and special achievement awards for students at GIBS.

• Top Scores: Achieving the highest marks (or second/third the highest) in PGDM or BBA programs.
• Consistent Performance: For certain scholarships, a consistent track record of high marks (e.g., above 80% or 85%) in 10th, 12th, and graduation is required.
• Entrance Exam Scores: Initial scholarships for new students are awarded based on high percentiles in national-level entrance exams like CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, ATMA, and GMAT. 

• Leadership Skills: Demonstrating strong leadership qualities within the institution and in events.
• Active Involvement: Significant participation in campus societies, core committees for internal events, and community services.
• Research and Innovation: Publishing high-quality research papers or demonstrating innovation and creativity.
• External Competitions: Participation in and winning accolades at various management festivals and events conducted by other institutions.
• Conduct and Punctuality: Consistently maintaining a positive attitude, good conduct, attendance, and punctuality.
• Personal Development: Showing overall personal growth and development during the course of study. 

The common reasons for rejection in GIBS admission rounds generally pertain to gaps in eligibility criteria, poor performance in selection stages, or overall mismatch with the needs of the selection process. Many applicants are rejected for not fulfilling the minimum prescribed academic eligibility or failing to submit valid entrance examination scores. Others fail at the Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds due to their weak communication skills, lack of clarity regarding career goals, poor subject knowledge, or an unconvincing Statement of Purpose. Sometimes, candidates fail to present an overall strong profile with academic consistency, extracurricular engagement, or relevant experience, which gets them rated poorly against other candidates.

While GIBS does not publish the official percentage of multinational companies visiting the campus, the available placement data and lists of recruiters show that a significant portion of companies participating in campus recruitment are well-known MNCs. The top recruiters often include global brands such as Accenture, Wipro, Mercedes-Benz, Asian Paints, and other multinational firms that regularly hire across domains such as marketing, finance, HR, analytics, and operations. Student discussions and external Q&A sources also indicate that a large share of visiting companies could be multinational in nature, though this figure varies year to year and is not formally disclosed. Overall, the presence of multiple established international and global-presence companies indicates strong exposure to MNC recruitment opportunities for students.

GIBS follows a well-structured and industry-oriented campus placement process for enabling students to secure good career opportunities. The placement season is conducted in different stages, starting with pre-placement preparation to final job offers. Students undergo training, assessments, interviews, and networking sessions—all to make them industry-ready.
Pre-Placement Training: The students go through sessions on aptitude, soft skills, communication, resume building, GD/PI practice, and knowledge about the industry.

• Company Orientation & Pre-Placement Talks: The recruiters give presentations regarding job roles, salary packages, growth opportunities, and expectations.
• Company-specific registration: The student selects and registers for the companies they are interested in applying to, based on their eligibility and interest.
• Aptitude & Skill Assessments: A lot of companies conduct written tests, online assessments, or case-study challenges to shortlist candidates.
• Group Discussions: Students are shortlisted for GD rounds, wherein their teamwork, communication skills, and analytical skills will be tested.
• Technical or Functional Interviews: Companies conduct interviews in regard to the specialisation to test for subject knowledge, problem-solving skills, and domain expertise.
• HR Interview: Final HR round of assessment for attitude, confidence, cultural fit, and overall suitability to the organization.
• Internship/Final Offer Selection: The selected students receive either a full-time employment offer (FTE), pre-placement offer, or internship offer, as per the company.
• Continuous Support: GIBS has a well-established placement cell that provides feedback, mock interviews, and even post-selection assistance.
