The basic difference between these two courses is that the M.Des. Course deals with research in design, whereas the MFM deals with business aspects of fashion. Here is a comparison to help you decide which is better suited for you:
1. Objective: If your interest lies in learning about fashion design at a higher level, the M.Des. Course is for you. If you are interested in marketing and management in fashion, you must take the MFM course.
2. Fee: The course fee for M.Des. Is around Rs. 3 Lacs per year. In good colleges, the course fee for the MFM course is around Rs. 4.5 Lacs.
3. Job Profile: With a M.Des. Degree, you can work as a fashion designer, stylist, design manager, etc. With a MFM degree, you can work in positions like fashion coordinator, fabric quality control manager, or fashion merchandiser, among others.
4. Salary: You can get a salary package as high as INR 8 Lacs through top colleges like NIFT with ANM Des. Degree. As a MFM graduate, you can expect an average salary of 4.5 LPA.

GNIMS is offering three-year MFM part-time postgraduate programmes approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated to Mumbai University. The details are given below.
1. No. of Seats: 60 per programme
2. Eligibility : Bachelors Degree in any discipline from a recognised university with Minimum 2 years works experience at a supervisory/executive level, after graduation (The 2 year period is calculated from the date of las paper of final examination at the degree level).
3. Admission Procedure : The applicant must submit the prescribed application form along with necessary certificates on or before the due date. The applicant must appear for the selection programmes on the date of Entrance Exam. The selection will be done on the basis of Personal Interview (PI).
