I would say that ranking wise MNNIT comes above MNIT but when mechanical engineering is compared then definitely I would say that MNIT is better as here we have different core companies coming like TATA MOTORS, M&M, BRAHMOS AEROSPACE, BPCL, HPCL, etc. Also, we have in our college very experienced faculty with different mechanical engineering societies like SAE BAJA, CAE Society, which help the students in not only learning what is engineering, but also be in constant coherence with the latest trends and technologies in current industry.

I can clearly see what you are asking. If this is your JEE mains rank then you can surely get MNIT with Chemical or Metallurgy branch. If it is not and it is your state rank then I am afraid that you may not get any government college but still you can get a lot of good private colleges which are there in West Bengal

You can take any branch based upon your interest for example if you are very much interested in programming and coding then you must take either CS or IT or ECE but if you are very much into physics and recent technology in automotive then you may take mechanical engineering, on the other hand if you wish to do a job in construction or open up your own then you may take civil. Other branches which are very good to take are electrical, electronic, chemical.
