Vidyasagar College-Kolkata, Bausch and Lomb-Hyderabad-Pune, Elite School of Optometry-Chennai and NSHM College Kolkata are best colleges. If you're interested to pursue in the university itself then Kerala University of Health sciences, Indira Gandhi Uttar Pradesh, Chitkara University and Sri Ramachandra University Chennai are the best.

Optometrists can work as post-secondary teachers, occupational/industrial safety programs, consultants in eye care industry or do research in optometry colleges. Optometrists can also set up their own private clinics & work independently.
