It is good, you are thinking to pursue PhD. If you have 55% marks in P.G. or more, you can go through this. In most of the universities, PhD in commerce is not available. So, you can opt economics as subject in these universities. There are some topics which are related, such as money, capital, aids to trade, economic conditions, banking, taxation, financial management , present economic status of the country, compare economy of the developing and develop countries.
What is the business trend in countries such as China, Japan America, etc.?
Besides this, you can choose subject in service sector. For example, compare the service sector of India and Britain. With small scale industry startups in India, growing challenges and growth of Indian market, Inflation etc. may be good topics for research.

You can decide to pursue a Management Ph.D.
You can choose a B-School or a non B school. Department of Management Studies of State, central, deemed Universities and affiliated colleges offer Ph.D programs as:
1. Anna University Chennai.
2. Pondicherry University.
3. Madras University.
4. Kerala University.
5. PSG College Coimbatore.
6. Delhi school of Economics.
7. BITS Pillani, etc.
NITs and IITs also have a Department of Management Studies or School of Management Studies. IIMs, XLRI, IRMA, MICA, NITIE, etc. offer a Fellow in Management which is equivalent to a PhD. Now, you can decide which option is better for you. There are so many options. You can decide as per your convenience as issue of stipends, family accommodation, your master degree, your job, etc.

Minimum eligibility for Ph.D is post-graduation degree from any recognized university with a Bachelor's degree/ equivalent qualification obtained after a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
Some Institute might have some additional criteria like 2-3 years of post-qualification, full time relevant work experience in executive capacity, 55 % marks or equivalent CGPA at PG level, entrance test, etc.
Some of the Institutes require GATE/NET for Ph.D. Every Institute has its own selection procedure which you can find out directly from the institute where you are interested to take admission.
