VIT Vellore offers scholarships in the form of tuition waivers and freeships. While merit scholarships are awarded to class toppers, economically challenged students are provided need-based financial assistance. Furthermore, NRI and foreign students are given scholarships upon presenting meritorious records. Students from rural backgrounds who secure top ranks in VITEEE at the district level (in Tamil Nadu only) are given free education. Check below the detail for some of the scholarships:

• GV School Development Programme (GVSDP) – Toppers of state/ central board along with VITEEE rank holders are given tuition fee waivers of 100% for up to four years. The table below shows the bifurcation of tuition fee waivers against the total merit:

Yes, MTU offers a wide range of scholarships for their international students. Some of the most popular Michigan Technological University scholarships for international students are:

International Ambassador Scholarship:

• Automatic consideration;
• Awarded to non-US citizens or residents based on academic achievement; and
• Valued at USD 11,000 up to USD 14,300 per year for up to four years (eight semesters).

Alumni Legacy Award:

• Automatic consideration;
• Awarded to children or grandchildren of Michigan Tech graduates {applications for admission mus be submitted indicating alumni relationship (s)};
• Valued over USD 20,000 per year; and
• Students receiving the Alumni Legacy Award are not eligible to receive a National Scholars Program award, University Student Aid Grant, or the Military Family Education Award.

Summer Youth Scholars Award:

• Scholarship application must be submitted by Nov 15, 2025; and
• Awarded to new incoming first-year undergraduate students who participated in a Summer Youth academic programme at Michigan Tech; and
• Award amounts vary.

College of Business Dean's Award:

• Automatic consideration; and
• Awarded to incoming nonresident first-year students who are pursuing a major within the College of Business; and Valued at USD 2,000 to USD 20,000 per year.

FIRST Robotics Scholarship:

• Scholarship application must be submitted by Nov 15, 2025;
• Awarded competitively to incoming first-year students who have actively competed on a FIRST Robotics Competition, FIRST Tech Challenge, or VEX Robotics team during their high school career; and
• Valued at USD 4,000 per year.

Athletic Grants:

• Awarded based on athletic excellence to students selected by Michigan Tech coaches to participate in varsity athletics; and
• Valued up to full-time tuition and fees, room and board, and book allowance.

Michigan Tech J. Edgar McAllister Foundation Scholarships:

• Scholarship applications are required;
• Awarded to citizens or permanent residents of Canada; and
• Award amounts vary.
