National testing agency which conducts JEE Mains examination in multiple sessions declares the results session wise as well as overall fundamentally in the percentile form. They also publish percentile cutoffs for different categories of students. The students who have scored equivalent or more percentiles are only authorised to take part in the counselling for admission to NIT or equivalent institute. Till last year they had given relaxation of the condition of 75% in the 12th standard for admission into IIT but this year this condition has been restored and if you have cleared the cut off percentage but not scored 75% marks then you can definitely take part in admission process for NIT but cannot seek admissions in IIT.
