The job market for Indian students at Carnegie Mellon Uni is very competitive. Companies prefer highly-skilled individuals. These conduct several rounds of technical and personal interviews before choosing a student.

However, 91% of the CMU grads were still able to land full-time roles within 3 months of graduating.

Yes, BU does offer multiple benefits for applying Early Decision (ED) rather than the Regular Decision (RD)

One of the best things about Early Decision is a higher acceptance rate compared to the other one. The Early Decision is a binding agreement that demonstrates higher interest.

Additionally, it offers faster visa processing and Indian students have more time for an F1 visa

For example, some Engineering MS/MEng programs for Spring 2026 have the deadlines as early as Nov 1, 2026

And for many STEM and non-STEM courses, the students have rolling or later Spring deadlines

CMU Pittsburgh allows students to register for classes as an observer without receiving an academic credit or letter grade for it.

To do that, students need permission from academic advisor/instructor and complete the Course Audit Approval form. The form is to be submitted to the CMU Pittsburgh HUB before the specific deadline.

Yes, students can transfer to a different college/major at CMU Pittsburgh. However, it is not guaranteed.

Change of course within the same college is easy. It requires students to submit a change of course application and meet the entry requirements for their new course. To know more, check the CMU Pittsburgh website.
