UMASS Dartmouth has different GPA requirements for different levels of programs. The undergraduate programme needs a minimum GPA of 2.5 or above out of 4.0. The PG programs require a minimum of 3.0 or above out of a scale of 4.0. Some of the competitive programs like MBA require a minimum of 3.25 or above. Applicants must also make sure to meet other basic eligibility criteria as well like English proficiency test scores, and submission of admission documents that are mandatory for application process.

Yes, even if students have not studied in an English-medium school, they can still take the SAT exam. The SAT exam can be taken if it is mandatory for submission as a standardised test score. In case, the universities do not require it, taking SAT exam can be skipped.

There are different types of students who take SAT exam for different purposes. They are as follows:

  1. SAT exam is taken by international students applying for undergraduate programs in universities abroad. However, some Indian Engineering universities (offering UG-level courses) also require the SAT exam.
  2. Students who seek scholarships also submit SAT exam scores to get one.
  3. Applicants who have a low academic profile, such as low scores/GPA scores or a gap year, can also take the SAT exam to strengthen their profiles.

No, SAT is not just for international students applying to US universities. Apart from USA, it is accepted in 62 other countries. To name a few top countries where SAT exam is accepted for UG admissions in:

Gap year students take SAT to prove their academic competence. It may not always be mandatory but they still take SAT for various reasons. Getting a good SAT score also helps them with scholarships. Apart from this it makes their applications stronger.
