PTE exam, in 2026, continues to be a 2-hour-long computer-based test that needs to be taken at an authorised test centre. PTE assesses English proficiency of the test takers on the basis of 4 key skills - Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing. It comprises 22 types of integrated skills tasks that focus on real-life communication. Scoring is done by a trained AI algorithm, where only certain tasks are also checked by human experts. The main change in the exam pattern that the test takers will come around are in the number of questions for each task type - as the same has been changed since the addition of two new tasks back in 2025.

The PTE exam dates in India are available almost every day - all year long. Test takers must visit the My PTE portal to check the available slots at their desired test centres. Note that each test centre has multiple test slots almost daily.
