Admission to the Thapar University MCA course is merit-based. The selection process for MCA courses is simple: Thapar University evaluates the candidates' scores at the graduation level, and according to that, the university will release the merit list. Additionally, candidates must have studied Mathematics in their Class 12 and graduation level; the university assesses the complete academic record of the applicant.

To get admission into MCA courses at Thapar University, candidates are required to complete the basic eligibility criteria first and go through a selection process. Moreover, selection is based on merit prepared by giving weightage to Class 10, Class 12, and graduation scores. The weightage has been given to aggregate marks up to a pre-final year. Therefore, there is no provision that can be seen to admit directly for MCA courses.
