Hello,
The eligibility criteria for Thapar University state that you need to have a minimum aggregate score with mandatory subjects for the course you are selecting. Thus, if that one subject does not have the aggregate board marks but is among the mandatory subjects for the course, then you may not get admission at Thapar University.

Candidates wishing to apply online for admission to TIET Patiala must visit the official website of Thapar University. The university provides four-year full-time BE/B.Tech courses at the undergraduate level. Indeed, TIET takes into account both legitimate JEE Main results and Class 12 marks for admission to BE/B.Tech programmes. A merit list will be created based on the scores obtained in the admission exam. Physics, Chemistry, and Math grades from the Class 12 test are also included in the University's merit list for admission to the BTech programme.

At the undergraduate level, Thapar University provides four years of full-time BE/BTech studies. With the exception of the BTech in Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering, admission to all BE/BTech programmes at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology is determined by a candidate's performance on the JEE Main entrance exam. Valid NEET 2023 scores are required for TIET BTech admission to biotechnology and biomedical engineering. Admission to the B.Tech programme at Thapar University is determined by two factors: entrance nad merit. Either way, interested applicants can apply for admission to the TIET B.Tech program. 50% of the seats at Thapar University will be filled based on JEE Mian results, and the remaining 50% will be determined by the grades earned in the class 12 exam. There are differences in the minimum requirements for entrance and merit-based admission.

Manipal School for Information Science and Thapar University have basic student facilities, and admissions are based on the JEE Mains Ranking. Both the institutions are equipped with modern facilities, clubs and placements. However, a few points might help you decide which one is better. However, one of the features that Thapar Institute has is that the average package offered at Thapar University is around INR 7 INR, the highest being INR 42 LPA, which is somewhat more than that of Manipal School for Information Science.

The following are the requirements to be eligible to apply to Thapar University for a B.Tech/BE degree: completion of 10+2 coursework in Physics, Mathematics, and one of the following: Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or Technical Vocational Subjects with an aggregate grade of 60% (55% for SC/ST applicants). Obtaining a Class 12 Diploma in 2022, 2023, or 2024.
Students must receive at least 20% (15% for SC/ST) in JEE (Main)-2017 in order to be eligible.
The cutoff scores for Thapar University's B.Tech programme in computer Science and engineering in 2021 were 95.67 for a fourth category, 96.67 for a third, and 98.67 for a fourth.

Sector-wise placememt stats for batch 2026 are yet to eb released. Earlier, IT emerged as the most preferred sector among the UG students with 31% placement rate in 2023. The second in the sequence was Consulting and Electronics & Telecom with 11% placement rate in each sector.
