No. Candidate must possess a Master's degree with  a minimum of 55% grade score average from a UGC recognised university to apply for the NTA UGC NET exam. Also, if she or he is in the final year of their Master's programme or hold a four year bachelor's degree in specific subjects.

There is no upper age limit to apply for the Assistant Professor positions. But for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), the maximum age limit is 30 years as of June 1 of the exam year. There is also an ahe relaxation provided to the candidates from reserved categories including OBC, SC and ST

The Commission released the UGC NET 2025 December session examination dates on the official website ugcnet.nta.nic.in. The exam will be conducted from December 31 to January 7, 2025. The detailed schedule will be released later.

Candidates can check below the process to apply for the UGC NET 2025 application form for the December session Visit the website- ugcnet.nta.nic.in, Click on the 'Application form' link, mentioned at the bottom of the home page, Click on the 'New Registration', Enter the required details and complete the registration, Fill out the complete application form, Upload scanned pictures of passport size photo (10-200 kb) and signature (10-50 kb). Both images should be in JPEG format, Pay the UGC NET application fee (Gen - INR 1150; OBC/EWS - INR 600; SC/ST/PwD/ Transgender - INR 325), Save and submit the form, Download the confirmation page

The NTA released the UGC NET 2025 December session application form along with the notification 2025 on October 7, 2025.  It is advised to the candidates to fill out the correct details with utmost care in the application form. Any request for change in the particulars after the closure of the correction period will not be considered by NTA under any circumstances. Corrections sent by the candidate through Post/ Fax/WhatsApp/Email/by hand will not be entertained by NTA.

Yes. The UGC NET 2025 December session application form was released on the official website at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. It was released on October 7, 2025. Candidates could apply for the December session by visiting the official website. The last date to apply was November 7.

NTA and UGC updated the guidelines for the UGC NET exam from the June cycle exam. The candidates appearing in the exam can check the latest updates by the Agency and Commission below:

  • The UGC NET 2024 exam will be conducted in pen-paper mode (OMR) for both papers. The CBT mode will be discontinued from the NTA UGC NET June cycle 2024
  • The normalisation of the UGC NET marks will be discontinued from the NTA UGC NET June cycle 2024
  • The UG candidates with four-year UG courses can apply for the UGC NET JRF exam and the candidates who will secure 75% marks can enroll themselves in PhD

The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the UGC NET June application on April 20, 2024. The last date for the UGC NET application form was May 19, 2024. However, the candidates could pay the application fee for the NTA NET June cycle till May 20, 2024, and application correction window was activated between May 21 to 23, 2024. The NTA UGC NET exam is scheduled to be conducted between August 21 to September 4, 2024.
