GMC Amritsar is one of the best government colleges in Punjab with great faculty & alumni network.
Placements: All students have to do a paid internship at the college hospital for an entire year. The stipend is Rs. 22,000. Later on, after clearing NEET PG, students choose their branches for the MD course. Then they are paid Rs. 77,000 in the 1st year, Rs. 78,000 in the 2nd year, and Rs. 79,000 in the 3rd year. Top roles offered are intern, junior, assistant professor, and associate professor.
Infrastructure: We have labs for every subject. They are fully equipped with the required instruments and other materials. We have a library that has all sorts of medical books. Our classroom has a projector and a blackboard and is huge, as it can accommodate 250+ students. We have 7 ACs in the lecture theatre. In the hostel, we are provided with a wooden cupboard only and basic electricity. The food quality of the mess and canteen is average. Clean drinking water is available. We also have basic medical facilities in the hostel. The warden and guards are helpful in emergencies.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable in their subjects. The teaching quality is also good. The course curriculum is relevant. As it strictly follows NMC guidelines and is always updated. It prepares students for hospital practice and real-life medical work. The semester exams are difficult, and the passing percentage is 50%.
Other: I chose this course because of my passion for medical knowledge and empathy for patients. We have many events, committees, organisations, and conferences in our college. We also have an alumni association for the USMLE.

Not a good college, according to me.
Placements: I am a fresher, so I do not know much about it, but many students get into AIIMS hospitals. Placement packages are not available in our college. We get placed in hospitals directly through our resumes. We are studying nursing, and many students aim to go abroad through this course. I want to clear the NORCET exam through it.
Infrastructure: The college facilities are not good. Bathrooms are not clean. There is no proper electricity or staff support.
Faculty: Our college only conducts exams to collect fees. They use exams to threaten students that if their fees are not submitted, they will not be allowed to sit in the exam hall. Many teachers in our college do not speak fluent English. They also make pronunciation mistakes.
Other: I chose this course only because I did not want to do a B.A. after my 12th exam. During admission, staff members are very polite, but after that, they do not cooperate with anything. They do not understand our problems. Teachers also get very low salaries.

The college is good and peaceful.
Placements: Currently, I am in my 2nd year in the BCA course. The college has a placement cell named Next Gen by CTPL. The placement cell is good, and it is also tracking our growth daily. It has a partnership with companies like Amazon, Red Hat, etc. Companies are also providing certifications. Summer camps are being held for 2nd-year students, and it is compulsory for students to do internships.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not that huge, but it is peaceful. It has every facility it should have. Wi-Fi, labs, and the library are there for students and are very clean. Classrooms are big and have a good environment. The hostel also has good facilities. The food is also good, as sometimes our day scholar friends also request us to arrange food from there for them. The hostel has a gym and a canteen. The college has medical courses and a hospital, so medical facilities are available. A sports and games facility is also there.
Faculty: Faculty members are very helpful and friendly. They are very supportive in every situation. Teaching quality is great as teachers are interactive, so students can easily ask anything. The course curriculum is relevant. In every semester, a programming language is taught to us, which is beneficial. Semester exams are average and not very tough, as teachers teach nicely. Pass marks are 23.
Other: I chose this course because I am very much interested in technology. I am able to learn programming languages. A web tech subject is there, which teaches designing a website in the first semester. I have learnt basics of how a website is designed. Extra subjects should be removed, like EVS, etc. I am myself into event management. There are many events, and every student gets a chance to participate.

GMC Amritsar - A good option or not?
Placements: There are 250 students per batch in the 1st year of college. The internship amount is Rs 20,000 per month from this year. All the students who complete 4th year, and pass it are placed in an internship. You are eligible for NEET PG after you complete your internship.
Infrastructure: There are excellent facilities available in college with excellent Wi-Fi and air conditioning running in classrooms. There are lecture theatre, library, and labs. The quality of food available in mess is excellent. Canteen is also good. There are various game courts on campus.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable with excellent teaching quality. The curriculum is also relevant to the syllabus and makes teaching more effective and easier for students as well as teachers. There are yearly exams for each subject, and they are easy to pass.

Really best college in Mohali.
Placements: 3 to 5 percent of students were placed in various hospitals. The highest package started from Rs 70,000 per month and the average package was about Rs 45,000 per month and Rs 25,000 per month without hostel. Recruiting companies were mainly in the private hospital. We got our internship from the hospital GMC and rest of the private clinics. The roles offered in our course were the X ray technician computed tomography MRI and various others.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure for my course was quite good. Classrooms were spacious, equipped with projectors, and had clean seating. Our labs were well-maintained with proper computers, lab assistants, and updated software. Library had a decent collection of books and also provided access to online journals. Hostel facilities were average. Rooms were shared (usually 2 or 3 students), and the basic amenities were provided like a bed, table, chair, and cupboard. Wi-Fi was available but sometimes slow. The mess food was okay, though not great. It was edible but repetitive. Bathrooms were cleaned regularly, but water issues sometimes occurred.
Faculty: Faculty members at my college were well-qualified and supportive. Most professors had either a Ph.D. or industry experience. They explained concepts clearly and were approachable outside class hours as well. Some professors were strict, but overall they care about student learning. The curriculum was up-to-date with current industry trends, especially in the final years. It included both theoretical and practical subjects. In computer science, we had subjects like data structures, DBMS, operation systems, and even electives on AI and machine learning. There were regular internal assessments and lab work that helped in understanding real-world applications.

Q:   What is the latest cutoff information for admission to B.Sc at Baba Farid University of Health Sciences?
A:

Admission at Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) is based on performance in the most recent qualifying test, most likely the results of the 12th grade, rather than rigorous cutoff marks for B.Sc. programs (except nursing). According to Students at this institute, this strategy is the result of BFUHS not posting deadlines for B.Sc. programs on their website (except from nursing). BFUHS only uses NEET UG results for MBBS and BDS admissions. Still, you can definitely improve your application if you do well on your last qualifying exam. In contrast, BFUHS offers the Punjab Paramedical Entrance Test (PPMET) for B.Sc. Nursing. A greater PPMET score can increase your chances of being selected, even though BFUHS does not disclose exact cutoff values for this program.

Q:   Is pursuing MBBS at Baba Farid University of Health Sciences expensive?
A:

The price of studying MBBS at BFUHS varies according to the kind of seat. First-year fees for seats under the government quota are significantly lower, at around Rs 1.74 lakh. On the other hand, the cost of management quota seats is higher; first-year fees come to approximately Rs 4.06 lakh. The length of the programme and the selected quota structure can affect the total cost of the courses. Remembering that living expenses are different is quite important. Looking into scholarship programs could help you lessen the financial load.
