Admission to B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering at CUSAT is based on the Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination (KEAM) and the candidate should have a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in their 12th standard or equivalent examination.

The eligibility criteria to seek direct admission for the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech. Lateral Entry) course at CUSAT are:
- Any three-year Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by a Board of Technical Education recognised by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks.
- Candidates who have completed 3-year Diploma in Plastic Technology and Diploma in Plastic Mould Technology offered by CIPET with not less than 60% marks are eligible for B.Tech Mechanical Engineering Lateral Entry.
- Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Caste (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying, if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination.
- SEBC candidates of Kerala State belonging to non-creamy layer category are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks for the qualifying examination.
- For Instrumentation and Control Engineering, 3 years Diploma in Instrumentation or Electronics awarded by a board recognised by the department of technical education, Govt. of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks is required.
- A pass in the Diploma Examination in Engineering/Technology conducted by the State Board of Technical Education, Kerala or other states or any other equivalent examination after undergoing an institutional course of minimum 3 years duration with a minimum of 50 percent marks or equivalent.
- Candidates should be on permanent technical / professional employment for at least two years at the time of application after passing the Diploma Examination in any of the following type of establishments: Government Organizations, Quasi - Government Organizations, Industrial firm duly registered under Society's Act, Public or Private limited companies registered under Companies Act.

The admission criteria for Discontinued (July 2025)- B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering at CUSAT is:
Any three year Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by a Board of Technical Education recognised by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks.
Candidates who have completed 3-year Diploma in Plastic Technology and Diploma in Plastic Mould Technology offered by CIPET with not less than 60% marks is eligible for B.Tech Mechanical Engineering Lateral Entry.

The Cochin University Library was established in 1974 as a central agency for meeting the information requirements of the academic community of the university. The library provides access to around 45 print periodicals, 15,000 online journals, 11 subject-specific databases, and 1490 e-books. The Academic community of CUSAT can access e-books, thesis databases, journal databases, e-journals, and other e-resources from any terminal within the University campus

To apply for B.Tech. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at CUSAT, candidates should have a minimum of 50% or equivalent CGPA Grade in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from any recognized board. They should also appear for the CUSAT Common Admission Test (CAT) or have a valid KEAM score. Additionally, candidates can apply through the lateral entry scheme if they have a diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 60% marks.

To get admission to M.Sc. in Chemistry at CUSAT, candidates must have a minimum of 75% marks at the +2 level of education with science subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics). Additional eligibility criteria include having at least three of the four subjects as optional subjects with a minimum of 75% at the +2 level. Preference in admission will be given to students possessing KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) scholarship.

Step 3: Preference for KVPY Scholarship Holders
Preference in admission will be given to students possessing KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) scholarship. They need not have to appear for CAT.
