May 31, 2021: In the coming academic year, GSFC University will offer a new course called ‘Health and Hygiene in the Post-Covid Era’ to all students. The course will cover crucial health-related topics that will be useful in the post-pandemic period. The course will be compulsory and worth two credits. The University's teaching team has put together a comprehensive 30-hour course pack that will assist students to comprehend epidemiology and identify the main epidemiologic functions as well as their application in public health practice.
It will also aid in the comprehension of the link between the increase of infectious diseases, modern lifestyles, and interactions with microbes. The course's usefulness in terms of learning healthy living skills is a more crucial part of the course. “We will fail in our job if we do not respond to the changing world at the right time and if we do not line with the developing urgent demand of society,” says Dr Nikhil Zaveri, Provost of the University. For providing relevant and meaningful education, ‘Read & Respond Dynamism' is required.”
“Our kids will be well-educated skillfully in the area of health and hygiene, and will not only be ready to practice healthy living for themselves but will also help others to follow in their footsteps,” he continued. “We also aim to establish Basic Nursing Skills as a full two-credit course where students will learn basic treatment applications to avoid the beginning delay in fundamental care and medical failures,” he said. “NEP expects universities to be truly multidisciplinary, in sync with society requirements, and we are one of them,” he said.
Dr Akhilesh Prajapati Receives Research Grant of Rs 43 Lakh Under The Research Support Scheme Of The GSBTM, Govt. Of Gujarat
May 6, 2021: GSFC University today announced that Dr Akhilesh Prajapati of the Department of Biotechnology has been awarded a large research grant of Rs. 43 lakhs under the GSBTM's research support scheme to work on the pathogenesis of Breast Cancer progression and possible therapeutic options in collaboration with Dr Ravi Vijayvargiya, Assistant Profesor.
Since then, breast cancer cases have risen dramatically in the region, and it is now the most common cause of death in women all over the world. Over the years, the state of Gujarat has seen an extraordinary increase in the number of breast cancer patients from all walks of life, and the number continues to climb alarmingly. The reason for this may be an ineffective prevention plan and a lack of early warning markers for the disorder, which is affecting Indian women disproportionately. The disorder is linked to a number of causes, including environmental, genetic, and lifestyle factors. To fully comprehend cancers, researchers must function at the molecular and cellular levels. Our research is primarily focused on identifying potential pathways in breast cancer progression through stem cells and miRNA connections.
The findings will likely contribute to a better understanding of the possible role of cancer stem cells and microRNAs in the etiopathogenesis of breast cancer progression and metastasis, which is the most prevalent disease among women of all ages after puberty, especially in India.
