This university is a good choice for the marine engineering course. Placements: If one is going for marine engineering then it is a good choice to get into IMU Kolkata (MERI/DMET). For my batch before passing out from college, about 50% of cadets were placed and the count is increasing day by day.

Indian Maritime University (IMU) offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the field of maritime studies. placement package for Bsc nautical Science student is 36k-45k. and for DNS is 33k-35k, for MBA students package is 20k - 25k, for B.Tech placement is poor in chennai campus. There might be an outside chances of Procurement jobs. With MBA in logistics and supply chain, you would be suitable for roles in areas of logistics, distribution, warehousing, supply/demand planning, manufacturing and procurement. Overall MBA is good at IMU Kochi.

Difficulty level of IMU CET is moderate. Candidates must prepare using the syllabus thoroughly to pass the exam and get admisison to the desired course.

For OBC-NCL students, the expected cutoff is 74.31, while for SC students it is expected to be 54 and for ST students, it is expected to be 44.Majority of companies won't even care about marks in 12th. The college has not released its placement report for the year 2022. However, the 2021 placement statistics are available, according to which 100 students participated in the placement drive of 2021 and out of which 22 students got placed in top companies such as DHL, Airlift, APL Logistics, Adani Group, etc. So, the overall placement rate recorded was 22%. The overall placement rate dropped from 52% in 2020 to 22% in 2021. Yes it indeed is good to join but only if you can clear IMUCET-the entrance test for admission to IMU. IMU is the central government university and if you are interested in merchant navy then you should hit to one of the campuses of IMU. Be very clear of what stream you want to choose (B.Sc, B.Tech, DNS, etc.it is costly B.E. / B.Tech (12 courses) 3 L - 18.6 L . After our course we can enter in to shipping field as captain. This college provides good quality education, so various international shipping companies come to take our cadets. Companies like Mediterranean Shipping Company, Anglo-Eastern Shipping company, Seven Islands, Thom, etc. visit our campus for recruitment.

Infrastructure: The campus is spread over 10-acres of shipping with high-quality laboratory and playground facilities within the college. The college is a go-go for people seeking a career in the maritime sector.

Placements: More than 80% of our batch are placed in various Indian and multi-national companies. Companies like MOL, Fleet Management, DocknDale, TORM, and M.Sc., visited and recruited the students.

Residential Programmes are the courses for which the students have to stay compulsorily in the Hostel. Accommodation in the Hostel will be given by IMU Campuses for these students. No request for opting for residing outside for residential programmes will be accepted.

The placement records are comparatively improving year by year providing great expo to the cadets.

Placements: Around 90% cadets get placements on campus, depending upon the type of companies they get placed their salary varies. Chevron, NYK, Pacific Basin, Feet Management, Dynacom, Dynagas, Shell, TORM, MOL and many more. The role of trainee is offered for initial stages.

In my opinion IMU kochi is better for B.Tech, if you want to pursue your career in engineering field.

During the Round 1 cutoff list, the IMU Kochi MBA cutoff 2025 varied between 268 and 351 for the General AI category students. The cutoff ranks vary for different rounds and categories. The cutoff was released for admission to MBA in Port and Shipping Management and MBA in International Transportation and Logistics Management courses. IMU Kochi accepts relevant scores of IMU CET/ CAT/ MAT/ CMAT, followed by a counselling process. Moreover, before appearing and securing a valid score in the entrance exam, candidates must complete their bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% aggregate from recognised universities (5% relaxation for reserved categories).
