B.Sc. in Nautical Science (Lateral Entry)

The total seat intake for the BSc course at IMU Kochi is 80. To get a seat in this programme, candidates are required to complete certain eligibility criteria, followed by an entrance exam and counselling process. Applicants must complete their Class 12 from the PCM stream with at least an aggregate of 60% and 50% in English at the Class 10 & 12 levels. Additionally, applicants must be medically fit, including eyesight and hearing, as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination).

Achieved valid scores in IMU CET, conducted by the IMU and for the conclusion of the whole admission procedure, the campus conducts the counselling process.

Absolutely satisfied with teaching quality and peaceful campus surroundings. Placements: In our college about 70% of students are placed in many streams like MBA and Nautical Field. The average salary offered at IMU is 7 lac per annum with the highest package offered being 12 lac per annum and the lowest is 5.5 lac. This university is a good choice for the marine engineering course. Placements: If one is going for marine engineering then it is a good choice to get into IMU Kolkata (MERI/DMET). For my batch before passing out from college, about 50% of cadets were placed and the count is increasing day by day.

The placement records are comparatively improving year by year providing great expo to the cadets.

Placements: Around 90% cadets get placements on campus, depending upon the type of companies they get placed their salary varies. Chevron, NYK, Pacific Basin, Feet Management, Dynacom, Dynagas, Shell, TORM, MOL and many more. The role of trainee is offered for initial stages.

The placement rate recorded in IMU Kochi placement drive 2021 was 22% which was much lower than the last year's placement rate which was 52% in 2020. The college has not released its placement report for the year 2022.

In my opinion IMU kochi is better for B.Tech, if you want to pursue your career in engineering field.

The top recruiting companies are M.Sc. Anglo Eastern, Torm, Synergy, BHM and many more. Many students have got opportunity to do their internships from Mumbai port. After our course we can enter in to shipping field as captain. This college provides good quality education, so various international shipping companies come to take our cadets. Companies like Mediterranean Shipping Company, Anglo-Eastern Shipping company, Seven Islands, Thom, etc. visit our campus for recruitment. 

IMU is a well-known institution for Maritime studies. IMU Kochi offers five academic programmes across Science and Management streams in Logistics, Transportation, Port Management and similar Maritime disciplines. 

The IMU Kochi Campus BSc cutoff for 2025 has been released for round three. However, there are multiple rounds left that will be released soon. Now, in the comparison of the cutoff trend of the BSc course at IMU Chennai Campus for the years 2024 and 2025, one can evaluate that the rank has decreased and the competition has increased.
