Kuvempu University was established in 1987 as a state public university. This state university is recognised by UGC and is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities. It has also signed MoUs with several national universities and organisations.
Established in 1987, it comprises 59+ departments that collectively offer 80+ courses. These courses are offered across different levels, including UG, PG, and doctoral levels. All these courses are UGC-approved and are offered across four fields, including Arts, Science, Commerce, Education and Law. The university also offers distance education. Kuvempu University offers admission to students based on entrance test scores and the merit of their academic performance. The selection criteria differ from one course to another. There is no such provision for direct admission to any of the programmes at Kuvempu University. The university course admissions are both merit and entrance-exam-based. For MBA and MCA, the university fills the unfilled seats through university entrance exam. KU also conducts an entrance test for admission to BPEd and MPEd courses. Once the selection is over, Kuvempu University releases a selection list to announce the names of selected candidates.
Kuvempu University selects candidates for BPEd based on entrance exam conducted by the university. There shall be an entrance test for admission to BPEd conducted by the university.
