OSOU Highlights 2025
Odisha state open university or OSOU is the single state level university, which is situated in Odisha and was set up to provide quality education to students in the system of distance learning. The Government of Odisha set up the University in the year 2015. The OSOU headquarter is in Sambalpur but to execute its mandate, it has set up 54 regional centers and study centers in various regions of Odisha by utilizing the available infrastructure of the government/ government aided colleges and institutions. OSOU is accredited by the University Grants Commission, Distance Education Bureau, National Council of Teacher Education, Bar Council of India and Medical Council of India.
At present, there are eight distinct schools that are operational under OSOU. These schools offer degree, diploma and certificate courses across multiple streams of Teacher Education, Business & Management Studies, Computer Science, Engineering Science, Paramedical, Agriculture, among various others. However, the University offers placement assistance for seeking jobs in the relevant industry. Along with this, the University also provides training and career guidance services to shape the career of students by developing their personalities. As per the data derived from multiple sources, 30-40 per cent of OSOU pass-outs of 2020 batch got placed with a highest CTC offered of Rs 10 LPA while the average CTC ranged between Rs 3-4 LPA.

At present, the University offers a total of 64 UG, PG, diploma and certificate courses through its eight schools in distance learning mode. The UG courses are of three-year duration. However, the maximum period to complete the UG programmes is six years. On the other hand, the minimum and maximum duration to complete the PG courses is two and five years, respectively. Similarly, for PG diploma courses, it is one-and-a-half years and four years, respectively and one year (minimum) and four (maximum) for diploma programmes.
