It's located in Hyderabad now the capital of Telangana and erstwhile capital of complete Andhra Pradesh. It was basically formed with the intention and aim of serving Telugu speaking people not only in India but outside India also and hence it has a distance learning faculty also. It was fundamentally and instrumentality of the state for promotion of Telugu language literature history culture visual and performing arts etc. meaning it dealt in basically of field of liberal arts and literature. The university obtained the present name only in the year 1998. It offers various courses right from certificate to undergraduate to post graduate and even doctoral thesis but all related in this area of liberal arts. 

     As a result of this avowed aim, the courses that it offers are not available to the modern industry and hence the placements of students is not what we see in different colleges offering professional courses.
