{Source: M.A. students & alumni}M.A. (Master's) Course at Punjabi University Patiala: Is it a Good Choice? Based on the reviews and testimonials from current students and alumni, here are the key points to consider:Pros:* Good faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable, with many having years of experience.* Relevant course structure: The course is structured to prepare students for the industry, making them "industry-ready".* Many extracurricular opportunities: Regular events, festivals, and auditions provide students with numerous chances to gain practical experience and build their portfolios.* Good infrastructure: The university has a large campus spread over 400 acres, with state-of-the-art facilities, including auditoriums, studios, libraries, and sports grounds.* Placement opportunities: While there aren't direct placements, students often get work in the theatre, film, and entertainment industries through auditions and connections made during their studies.Cons:* Shortage of professors: The department lacks a sufficient number of professors, which may impact the quality of education and guidance.* Limited placement assistance: As mentioned earlier, students mostly rely on their own efforts to secure placements, and the university doesn't offer extensive placement assistance.* Summer heat: Some students noted that the classroom conditions can be uncomfortable due to the lack of air-conditioning during the hot summer months.Overall, the M.A. programme at Punjabi University Patiala seems to offer a good balance between academic rigor and extracurricular opportunities. However, potential students should be aware of the limitations and challenges associated with the course, particularly regarding placements and professor availability. With careful consideration and planning, this programme could still be a good choice for those interested in pursuing a career in the performing arts.

Yet, the undergraduate course being offered is B.A. (Hons.) in Journalism, Mass Communication, and Media Technology. It does provide some good grounding in media but no specialisation in film and TV production at the undergraduate level.Focus on Postgraduate StudiesThe university offers this focus in film and TV production at the graduate school level. The institution offers an M.A. in Theatre and Film Production that provides advanced training in the intricacies of the film and television industry.
