Placements for B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering at SASTRA University are generally good, with a placement rate of around 85-90%. Many students secure jobs before graduation. The university has a good reputation and is visited by a range of companies, including core mechanical companies. However, some students have reported that the management and placement cell are more focused on quantity over quality of placements. Some of the companies that have recruited mechanical engineering students from SASTRA University include MuSigma, Data Patterns, ELGI compressors, SuperGas, and FL Smidth. The average package for mechanical engineering students is around 3.5 to 6 LPA. It's worth noting that while SASTRA University has a good placement record, the concept of campus placement is not as prevalent in Tier-4 colleges like SASTRA. Additionally, mechanical engineering as a field has seen a decline in recent years. Overall, while there may be some challenges, SASTRA University's mechanical engineering department has a good reputation and can provide students with decent placement opportunities.
