Today my wife visited SASTRA Polytechnic for my son's admission. My son studied CBSE curriculum in Dubai. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The admission team was not even interested to talk properly. They refused admission saying they don't take students who studied CBSE abroad. I was surprised because NRI quota admissions are generally available in many institutions, but they told me even other state students are not considered here. When we asked about facilities, they informed clearly:- No college bus service.- No hostel facility for Polytechnic students.I feel this is difficult for students coming from other places. Also, the staff's attitude was not helpful. A polite explanation would have been appreciated. Not sure if it's true that no other state students are admitted, but this rigid approach is disappointing.Summary:- No admission for CBSE (Abroad) students.- No NRI quota considered.- No bus facility.- No hostel facility.- Poor response from admission team.It would be better if SASTRA Polytechnic officially publishes these rules on their website to avoid confusion for parents and students.

One must obtain a minimum of 60% aggregate in Class 12th exam. Admissions to 70% of the seats will be based on the merit rank obtained by giving 50% weightage to normal aggregate Class XII Marks and 50% weightage to JEE Main scores through institutional counselling. Your IPE score is pretty good and that weights 50% in counselling so you have a good chance in getting seat but in CSE it will be difficult.

With an 87% JEE score and a 98% +2 score, you have a strong chance of getting into Sastra University, but securing a CSE branch might be competitive. SASTRA uses a two-tier admission system, with 70% of seats allocated based on a combined score of 25% JEE Main and 75% +2 marks, and the remaining 30% based solely on +2 marks. SASTRA considers both your JEE Main score and your +2 marks for admission. They have two criteria: Stream 1 (70% seats): A combination of your JEE Main score (25%) and +2 marks (75%) is used.Stream 2 (30% seats): Only your +2 marks are considered.

The cutoff for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering at SASTRA University (Deemed to be University), Thanjavur, varies every year and is based on JEE Main scores and 12th board marks under two streams: Stream 1: 70% of seats are filled based on merit (12th marks + JEE Main score),Stream 2: 30% of seats are filled only based on 12th board marks. In general, for CSE in Stream 1, a cutoff score above 98% aggregate (PCM) + a decent JEE Main score (above 90 percentile) improves chances. For Stream 2, above 98.5–99% in PCM is usually safe, but it may change slightly every year. Note: These are estimated figures based on past year trends. For the most accurate and latest cutoffs, refer to the official SASTRA University website or their admission brochure.https://www.sastra.edu/
