Candidates who have passed a master's degree in any of the courses conducted by the School/ Integrated master's degree course or its equivalent with at least 60% aggregate or equivalent GPA are eligible to apply for the PhD programme. Aspirants who have passed B.Arch, BPlan or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent with at least 80% or 8.0 GPA or equivalent grade with at least three years experience can also apply.

Admission to most of the programmes of SPA Delhi is entrance-based. The institute considers scores in GATE/ CEED for M.Arch and MPlan, JEE Main (Paper-II)/ DASA UG for BArch, CEED for MDes and JEE Main (Paper-II) for BPlan programmes. Hence, entrance exam scores are required for admission in UG or PG courses at the institute. Selected candidates are requirement to participate in the counselling rounds and pay the course fee to confirm their seat in the institute.

School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate and doctoral programs in Architecture, Planning and Design. Admission to the courses is merit and entrance based. However, the final selection is done based on scores in JEE Main/ DASA UG. The courses offered by the school are BArch, M.Arch, MPlan, BPlan, and MDes. In addition, SPA Delhi offers two doctoral courses as well. These courses are offered in the Architecture & Planning, Design, Humanities & Social Sciences stream. The full-time and part-time PhD courses are offered in various specialisations, including Architecture, Industrial Design, Environmental Planning, Housing, etc.

The students interested in the BPlan course of SPA Delhi need to appear for JEE Main Paper-II. Students with a valid scores can take part in JoSAA counselling based on which seats are allotted to the eligible students. Yes, students enrolled in the MDes programme are offered scholarships at SPA Delhi. Through these scholarships, the institute aims to break financial barriers and reward meritorious students. 

SPA Delhi campus is spread over 20 acres of land and has two libraries in both Planning and Architecture campuses. The library has journals, e-journals, and a large collection of books. The deemed to be university also has a cafeteria and a large auditorium. The library is equipped with computer facilities and electronic facilities such as online resources to support the teaching, learning, and research activities of the school. The campus also has a material testing lab, IQAC, and also has material testing labs. School of Planning and Architecture Delhi has separate hostels for boys and girls alike. School of Planning and Architecture Delhi hostels enable students to feel at home in an unfamiliar place.

SPA Delhi was ranked in the fifth position by NIRF in the Architecture category. Hence, it tops many of the NITs except for NIT Calicut.
