Thiruvalluvar University is a public state university in the city of Vellore. University has following departments which offer serval courses. Department of Economics, Department of Zoology Department of chemistry.

Thiruvalluvar University is an affiliating University and a member of the Association of Indian Universities (A.I.U). The distance education, also known as the TIDE, Thiruvalluvar University of Distance Education offers course with a reasonable fee for the candidates. Also students undergoing regular courses in colleges will be permitted to join another UG/PG course through distance education. The examination is an annual pattern (non-semester) conducted twice a year with a hassel free admission process. Yes, TIDE is worth doing for candidates who wants to pursue a degree with low minimum fee.
