I chose this course not because of the curriculum.
Placements: I got a job as a writer in a government sector company. Some people can do NET after this and become lecturers in colleges. One can also become a political content writer, journalist, activist, NGO organizer, consultant, etc. There were very few placement opportunities available for M.Sc. stream students at Calicut University. Only a few companies visited the campus for placements. Many students went off-campus to find jobs. The major placement-providing courses here were B. Tech and M.Tech.
Infrastructure: The hostel fee was Rs. 6000 per month, with 4 students in a room. The girls' hostel had a curfew at 6:30 pm. Meals included both veg and non-veg on different days, and the food was generally decent. Some students stayed in nearby PGs. The curriculum was very helpful for me to understand many things. I had been working as a writer for a government sector company, and whatever I had learned was put to use. The syllabus included paper 1, Modern Political Analysis and Political Sociology. Paper 2 is Modern Indian Social and Political Thought. Paper 3 is on the Indian Government and Politics. Paper 4 is Theories.
Faculty: Most faculty members were good to students. We could approach them without fear, though it might vary at times. I liked all faculty members who taught me. They took care of us and worried about us as if we were their children. There were 6 subjects in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th semesters (including lab). For me, every subject was easy, but Hindi and psychology were a bit hard in the 2nd semester. The Calicut University syllabus wasn't really good. We studied things that we didn’t need for our future.
Other: There were many functions held in the college. Some of the main functions were the Arts Festival, College Day, Union Day, and Freshers' Day etc. These functions were held from November onwards and ended in March. The library had a huge variety of books needed for research purposes and studying. They also had novels, poems, and short stories in English, Hindi, Malayalam, etc. Faculty members used technological provisions within the classroom, which were good for viewing PPTs. This college encouraged students in sports and extracurricular activities. There were football, ko-ko, kabbadi, and hockey.
