Good placement support and practical learning, but curriculum and activities need upgrades.

Placements: Currently pursuing a BCA from Usha Martin University, I’ve found the placement opportunities to be quite promising. Around 70 to 80% of students from our course are placed through campus drives. The highest package offered so far has gone up to 10 LPA, while the average package ranges between 3.5 to 4 LPA. Most of my seniors received packages around 3 LPA.

Infrastructure: As a BCA student at Usha Martin University, I’d say the facilities and infrastructure for our course are quite decent. Our department has well-equipped computer labs with updated systems and internet access. There’s Wi-Fi available across the campus, including in the labs and library, which helps a lot during assignments or project work. The classrooms are spacious and have projectors for smart learning sessions. The university library is also a good resource. It has a wide range of books, journals, and e-resources that we can access for academic use.

Faculty: Most of the teachers in the BCA department at Usha Martin University are quite helpful and approachable. They are well-qualified, with many holding postgraduate or doctoral degrees in their subjects. They’re knowledgeable and usually explain concepts clearly, especially during practical sessions. If we have doubts, they’re open to helping outside class hours too, which I appreciate.

Other: I chose the BCA course at Usha Martin University because I’ve always been interested in technology and wanted to build a career in the IT field. BCA felt like the right choice to start learning about programming, software development, and computer applications in a structured way. Also, the course opens up multiple paths, whether you want to go for higher studies like MCA/MBA or start working right after graduation.

UMU: A Gateway of Opportunities.

Placements: Our college offers a wide and varied range of placements along with drives, and many big companies like Airtel, ShriRam Finance, and Bada Business groups offer placements starting from 100 LPA. Students get separate placement faculty members to help and guide them.

Infrastructure: UMU provides labs for practical classes and assignments with the latest technology, along with Wi-Fi and table internet connection. UMU also provides a library containing reference books for particular courses. UMU provides spacious and good-quality classrooms.

Faculty: Teachers and non-teaching staff are very helpful and provide guidance and assistance to students and clear their doubts regarding anything. The curriculum is very easy, and students are not burdened with assignments. Exams are at a very basic level. Suitable for all.

Other: UMU offers both bachelor’s and master’s degrees with various courses and also provides hostels, a canteen, and mess facilities. Students who come from outer states can often opt for hostels with bare minimum fees per semester. Meritorious students also get scholarships and loans based on their merit. Students are not required to give any entrance exams and can get admission directly.

Teachers are well-qualified and also knowledgeable.

Placements: 60-70% of students were placed in good companies, getting jobs ranging from 3.5 LPA to 10 LPA, including Tata, Airtel, Tech Mahindra, Reliance, and others. Almost 80% of students also got internships, mostly with IT companies like Q Spider, Pentagon Space, etc. MBA, BBA, Pharmacy, LL.B., and many more were good courses.

Infrastructure: Almost all facilities were available, like systems, boards, and AC in the labs, and everything was good in the classrooms with smart boards. In the libraries, almost all books were available. The food quality in the hostel was good, and the taste was also not bad. Sports and medical facilities were also available in our hostel.

Faculty: Teachers were obviously helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality was also good. If students wanted to study, they could. Semester exams were not so tough, but security during exam time was strict. The passing percentage was more than 40%.

Other: BCA was good for a professional job, and that’s the reason I chose it.

A prestigious institution with a dissatisfactory placement experience.

Placements: I would say around 40% of our students get placed, and the salary was not good for a candidate with a technical background, around 2.2 LPA. There were no major companies for recruiting, and we didn't have internship opportunities. Web development was the most frequent role.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure was good, and now it has improved a lot. We have a new campus with more facilities. In the past, there were no issues. The hostel was great, and now it has more advanced facilities for students. The food is amazing, and regular sports are played like cricket, badminton, or volleyball.

Faculty: The teachers were the best at their craft. Our HOD Sharmishtha ma'am, Anandroop Sir, Prashant Sir, Abhishek Sir, Ritu Shree Madam, Amir Sir, and Jyantika Madam were good. The course was up to the mark, and the exams were competitive. I got around 80%.

Other: I have a keen interest in computers from the start, but unfortunately, I wasn't able to do B.Tech due to financial issues. That's why I had to take the second-best option, which was taking this course. I learned a lot of new programming languages like C, C+, Python, Java, R, and Prologue. I got my basics right and also gained knowledge about different operating systems like Unix and other technical stacks like AI, databases, and all that is industry-relevant and still is. I learned a lot of new stuff about computers and gained a lot of confidence. I improved my public speaking skills and overcame my fear as well. I started taking part in food fests, debates, and coding competitions; I got to meet new people, and I had a wonderful 3-year college experience. Apart from my bad experiences with the placements, they still give me nightmares.

Our college has good infrastructure and facilities.

Placements: In our college, almost 80-90% of students are placed every year. The highest salary package offered is 8.5 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 2.8 LPA and the average salary package offered is 5 LPA. Top companies like TCS, Wipro, IBM, Capgemini, etc., visit our campus. Most students get internships in Ranchi. Top roles offered by the association to students are trainee, junior developer, etc.

Infrastructure: We have Wi-Fi, a computer lab with air-conditioners, neat and clean classrooms, and a library with all the required books for the course available. The hostel opened this year and students who stay there have access to Wi-Fi, a gym, and a library. A cricket ground has been built at our university in collaboration with the Jharkhand State Cricket Association.

Faculty: All teachers are qualified and very active in solving any problems related to the course and are always ready to help students. Courses that are offered by the university are very informative and also prepare students to work in industries.

Everything is good on the campus.

Placements: Everything is good and going smoothly because we have supportive staff members in the training and placement department. They help us and support our needs, and also guide students in their own careers and tech. They also guide on placements.

Infrastructure: All things on the campus are good. The conditions of the campus are good.

Faculty: All staff members of my college and the examination department are really good. They help and support students. If students face any problem, then they really help them in a good manner. They are always ready to help us. They are really very kind. All staff members, both teaching and non-teaching staff members, are very good. They always tell students to focus on their career and tech.

Other: I chose this course because it is really good. There should be more productivity in the computing and information technology department.
