Utkal University offers a 3-year BSc programme in 12 specialisations. The specialisations are Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Physics, Statistics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Mathematics, Geology, Geography, Computer Science and Applications, and Chemistry. The total tuition of the course ranges from INR 360 to INR 2.3 lakh. To apply for the BSc course, candidates need to fulfil the basic eligibility criteria, which is that they must have passed Class 12 from a recognised board. 

Candidates applying for admission into the BBA programme do not have to apply for any entrance exam to secure their admission. The eligibility criteria for admission into Utkal University BBA is a passing grade in Class 12. As admission into the programme takes place through the merit secured in Class 12, candidates can just take direct admission and do not have to sit for any exams.

The total seat intake for the MBA-sponsored courses is 330 as per the details collated from unofficial sources. The seat allotment process is carried out as per the seat intake, cutoff marks, reservation policy, and the candidate's score on the test. Additionally, some of the seats are locked for the reserved category students. The reservation policy is followed as prescribed by the Government of Odisha. Out of all the colleges that offer BSc seats from Utkal University, Govindapur College offers the most amount of BSc seats with 720 seats,  while Kamakhyanagar College offers the least amount of seats with only eight seats for the BSc programme.

Utkal University admission takes place through Odisha SAMS PG Entrance Test. Candidates applying for admission in the MSc programme have to apply and appear for the exam and secure a valid score to be eligible for admission in the programme. The institute does not conduct or recognize results of any other exam for its MSc admissions.

Utkal University offers multiple MSc courses across multiple affiliated colleges. Candidates taking admission into the programme should note that the MSc programme is two years long and follows the semester model. Therefore, the programme has four semesters which candidates have to pass to be eligible for an MSc degree.
