The government of Jammu and Kashmir extended the closure of all the state educational institutions until May 31 in view of the ongoing pandemic situation and increasing COVID-19 cases. According to the reports, as a part of the new restrictions, all schools, colleges, universities, technical or skill development institutions in the state will remain closed. A reputed media portal quoted the government of Jammu and Kashmir saying, “All schools, colleges, universities, technical or skill development Institutes in Jammu and Kashmir to remain closed till May 31.” Earlier, the government allowed colleges to conduct online classes.

The state had closed the educational institutions after the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a meeting to review the COVID-19 situation in the state. The government took the decision to shut down the educational institutions after various school teachers and students got tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Following the devastating second wave of the COVID-19, Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) had cancelled the Class 10 board exams and postponed the Class 12 board exams.

Meanwhile, the University Of Jammu commenced the registration process for its BEd programme offered via distance mode at the official website, i.e. distanceeducationju.in. Candidates interested in Jammu University Admissions 2021 must note that the last date to apply for the BEd(distance) programme is May 3. The admissions application process will be conducted via the Directorate of Distance Education on behalf of the University of Jammu. The BEd course offered at Jammu University will be of two years spread over four semesters. A total of 500 candidates will be selected for the course.
