DTU Journey: From School Days to Campus Thrills

The transition from the School/ Coaching phase to the roller coaster Delhi Technological University ride came with mixed emotions of joy, stress, excitement, fear and of course the pressure and thrill of ambitions. The session started on 31st July 2023 with a five-day orientation. I was stunned after seeing the vast campus of DTU at first. It was hard to believe that the institute which we had seen and heard about since our childhood is finally the one where we will be spending our next 4 years.

The large Raj Soin Hall was the first place in the college where we all gathered for the orientation. We were sort of lucky because the new academic buildings were inaugurated that year only. On the very first day, our group of friends went to enjoy the view from the new building’s balcony, the lush green campus, the top view of the oat, the Delhi Technological University lake and the simply stunning architecture brought a smile automatically to our faces. It finally gave us that much-needed feeling of accomplishment.

When our colleges began finally after that week since then we used to spend hours in our groups either at the OAT or to escape the Sun we used to go to the BR Auditorium, and our seniors used to often play songs on the speakers of the Auditorium to gather a crowd for society orientation and we used to have good jamming sessions in the meantime. Not to mention, the sporty enthusiastic beast in us which came out again after seeing the numerous facilities for virtually all kinds of sports in our college. Bunking a few lectures and playing cricket or table tennis for a few hours is definitely something which I don’t regret. Not only this, but the fun which we had on our official college Fresher in the campus and the other fests will remain unmatched. Be it us flaunting our ethics and formals on freshers or dancing and jumping at the groovy beats of the concerts and DJ nights in college, it has always been a new chapter in our yearbook of memories. Goes without saying that the academic rigour and exams taught us a lot about the deadlines and all-nighters which we pull to meet those deadlines.

I even joined multiple clubs here at my college, and it taught us to laugh in terms of the skills we gained. I was lucky enough to be selected as one of the few students who represented the college in the debating competitions held across various other colleges. We went to IIT Bombay for one such event, those 6 days were definitely the best days of the entire 1st year.

Learning, debating and enjoying with your seniors and peers was something which helped me open up and come out of that shell of the schooling phase. Other than this definitely the campus looks beautiful when it rains or in the evening after the classes. The society meets and the outings with our friends during those times are really memorable. Definitely, it was a wonderful time spent till now in the Delhi Technological University.
