Hostel Fee & Facilities in Welingkar Institute of Management, Mumbai

2 mins readUpdated on May 25, 2022 12:39 IST
The hostel fee typically ranges from INR 90,000 to INR 1,50,000 annually. The hostel registration process is usually done online and on a first come first serve basis, with the outstation students always getting the first preference.

The hostel gates are shut by 11 pm and no unwanted commotion is entertained on the hostel premise after that.

The Mumbai campus of Welingkar Institute of Management does not have a residential MBA program. Hence, it does not have a hostel on its own premises. However, the four well-furnished hostels (two each for boys and girls) are not only located within two to three kilometres of the college but also are equipped with all the basic amenities such as 24*7 internet connectivity, study table, uninterrupted electricity and water among others. The hostel location is relatively quiet and connected via public transport. Considering mild traffic, it takes about 10 to 15 minutes to reach the college from the hostel. A cab or taxi is considered the best way to reach the college.

Fee Structure

The hostel fee typically ranges from INR 90,000 to INR 1,50,000 annually. The hostel registration process is usually done online and on a first come first serve basis, with the outstation students always getting the first preference. This is because of the limited seats available for the students. Students can also choose to stay in rental flats (single or in sharing) in the college vicinity as per their convenience and needs. The number of outstation students enrolled in hostels is not known, however, it is estimated that close to half of the batch of any full-time PGDM program resides outside Mumbai. Hence, one can expect to receive a good company of batch mates for two years, in either a hostel room or a PG or a flat. There is a choice of non-AC and AC rooms for the students in the hostel. Hostels are double occupancy, i.e., two students share one room. One has to pay a security deposit of INR 5,000, which is refunded at the end of the hostel stay.

Mess Facilities

The mess charges are not included in the hostel fee. The mess provides both veg and non-veg options, with the food served to be both delicious and affordable. However, there is no mandate for one to avail of the mess services.

Q:   What facilities are offered by Welingkar Institute of Management?
A:

Welingkar Institute of Management provides various facilities to the students to get them accustomed to the corporate culture. Concerning infrastructural facilities, they have fully WiFi equipped campus, hostel facility, indoor and outdoor games, recreation center, space bar, library, amphitheater, auditorium, etc. Talking about academics, they provide 8-week summer internship opportunities to the students.

Even after the hostels are filled, Welingkar assists students in finding accommodation through its own-leased apartments around the college. These flats come directly under the supervision of the college. One important thing to note here is that the hostel gates are shut by 11 pm, and no unwanted commotion is entertained on the hostel premise. Hence, all the hostel rules need to be strictly followed. There are no specific student engagement activities carried out by the college for the hostelers, however, the students are free to cherish their stay.
