IIM Visakhapatnam Admission Process 2025-2027
Admission to PGP programme of IIM Visakhapatnam was a three-phase selection process which included:
- Shortlisting of candidates based on their CAT exam score
- Personal Interview (PI)
- Final selection of candidates
In order to reach to the next round of selection, candidates had meet the requirement for each group according to their category. IIM Visakhapatnam admission criteria is given below in detail.
IIM Visakhapatnam Admission Stage 1: PI Shortlist 2025
Candidates had to fill the IIM Visakhapatnam PI shortlisting form by following the steps given below:
- Open the institute website
- Go to Programme option and select PGP
- Click on apply now
- Enter CAT 2024 registration number and password
- Click on login and fill the form with relevant details

The first stage shortlisting of candidates was done on the basis of the minimum section-wise and aggregate CAT cut off percentile secured by a candidate.

Note: These cut offs are qualifying marks required to be eligible for WAT-PI round. Actual selection was based on final CAT cut offs.
IIM Visakhapatnam Admission Process: Stage 2
In the second stage, IIM Visakhapatnam considered candidates' percentage scores in Class 10 and Class 12 board exams. These scores were adjusted by dividing each such score by the 90th percentile score obtained in that board. For candidates who qualified, final scores obtained by the candidates were used for the bachelor’s degree and professional degrees (if any).
Next, all qualified confirmed candidates with Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accounting, and Company Secretary certifications were eligible for weightage under the professional course.
Candidates must note that the maximum of the score of the work experience and the score of the professional course was considered for selection under a common parameter of work experience.

IIM Visakhapatnam Admission Criteria 2025: Sectional Weightage of CAT
IIM Visakhapatnam takes into consideration the CAT sectional score of candidates too. Given below are the scores allotted to each section of the CAT exam:

IIM Visakhapatnam Selection Process: Stage 3
A pre-PI rank list based on parameters on the above mentioned parameters was created. Candidates who got shortlisted on based on these parameters were further called for the PI round. They were required to submit a detailed application including the following:
- A statement of purpose
- Details of semester wise / year wise marks in Bachelor’s degree
- Copies of all academic transcripts & certificates
- Copies of work experience certificates (if applicable)
- Certificate of disability (if applicable)
- Certificate of scheduled caste / scheduled tribe / other backward class – non-creamy layer certificate (if applicable)
The PI score carried 25 points. Once standardisation across interview panels and sessions was done, these were added to the following scores to arrive at the final aggregate score:
Qualifying CAT cut off percentiles of Iims for Written Ability Test (What) and Personal Interview PI are listed below. Candidates who MET the qualifying CAT cut off, were eligible for What-PI round. These qualifying CAT cut offs are for General Category. The cut offs for Reserved category students are lower:

CAT cutoffs are usually not announced with the CAT result. The CAT cutoffs are also not released to the public.
They are published after a few days of the result announcement when the IIMs and other colleges start their shortlisting process. The IIMs opens their shortlisting window based on the CAT cut-offs two to three days after the result announcement. The CAT percentile of candidates shortlisted for the Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI) can be considered the cut-off for that IIM. For example, if a candidate with a CAT percentile of 99 belonging to the General category is selected for the WAT/GD-PI of IIM Calcutta, then the CAT cut-off for IIM Calcutta is 99 percentile. Only those candidates who make it to the WAT/GD-PI round of IIMs will get to know the cut-offs.
