Internship in Welingkar Institute of Management
Welingkar's Career Management Centre (CMC) plays an active to ensure maximum students get placed in reputed companies.
Just like a typical B-school, both the Mumbai as well as Bengaluru campuses of Welingkar Institute of Management provide ample internship opportunities for all its students every academic year. These internships are mainly for two months in May and June, which are compulsory for a student to undergo. Even though the college offers opportunities, one is free to find an internship on his/her own too. There are two major internship types one can opt for: summer (mandatory) and winter (optional). When compared to winter, the summer internships not only hold more value but are also easier to get since the college helps with the same. Post the internship, students need to make a mandatory report sharing their respective experiences during the internship, which is evaluated by the professors.
Internship Process
When it comes to the summer internships, the college’s Career Management Centre (CMC) plays an active to ensure maximum students get placed in reputed companies. The interview process is usually similar to the one followed during the final placements. The main interview round consists of the following: aptitude test, group discussion (GD), and personal interview (PI). A psychometric test or any other test or round may also be conducted at the sole discretion of the recruiting company. Though not a mandate as such, students having a minimum of 60% marks throughout their past academics tend to get shortlisted quicker when compared to others for the subsequent interviews.
In most cases, a typical internship process tends to last no more than 90 minutes in total. Before the shortlisting happens, students are informed about the internship in advance so they can apply for the same. Applicants are shortlisted depending on the posts, in which a list of selected students is sent to colleges for further interview rounds. Before the rounds commence, students are briefed by the company about their organisation, the internship role and the interview process. Students can make good use of this opportunity to clarify all their queries about the internship. Post this briefing (which tends to last for around 30 minutes), the process starts with the aptitude test (if applicable) which is followed by the GD and PI rounds. Roughly, 30 minutes each are allotted for both the stages. Post their completion, the results are intimidated to the college either on the same day or in a couple of days.
The highest pay offered to Welingkar Mumbai PGDM students was INR 24 LPA. Adani Group, Accenture, Amazon, Airtel, Deloitte, etc. were some of the top recruiters in the placement drive. However, there is no mention for 100% placements in the official report.
The total number of recruiters participated during Welingkar Mumbai placements in 2024 is yet to be released. Check below the list of a few top companies in 2023-2024 placement drive:

Stipend and Location of Internships
Most companies recruiting for internships offer some stipend which may range from INR 10,000 to INR 50,000 (or even more) per month. The recruiters belong to various domains such as Marketing, Finance, Consulting, IT, Sales, Operations, HR, etc. The locations can be Mumbai or outside (even Work From Home considering the COVID-19 pandemic). Wherever possible, students must aim to convert their internship into a good PPO (Pre-Placement Offer), which will help them evade the intense competition later on. Some of the reputed internship providers are CRISIL, HP, Capgemini, Amul, Indian Oil, Jio Studios, etc.
In the end, Welingkar ensures all its students get interned in a reputed organisation, which would not only help them understand their career aspirations and interests better but also use the opportunity as a launchpad for the subsequent executive placements. To make the most of an internship, a student should always show the inclination to learn and work with an open, flexible mind. A good internship shall always benefit one with an enriched exposure as well as building a robust CV.
