My CMAT scores helped me fetch 10% scholarship, says Rushali
I chose Commerce with Mathematics as one of the core subjects after Class 10 because I was never inclined towards Science and its related subjects. Though the Commerce stream was all new to me and getting to study something new made me choose this stream in the first place and I will say that my decision was not wrong as I was able to understand the subjects and also got a decent 94 per cent in my Class 12 board exams. After graduating in BCom (Hons), I am currently pursuing PGDM (General) from JIMS Kalkaji - Jagannath International Management School. I decided to pursue this course because it focuses on more practical knowledge which helps in personal growth. And the reason behind choosing JIMS, Kalkaji is that it is one of the best colleges in Delhi NCR and getting into really good college matters a lot. Talking about the placements, they have a really good corporate network with leading corporates being part of it. Institute conducts regular guest lectures and seminars for the students to gain knowledge in various fields.

As a part of the admission process, one has to undergo at least one nationally accepted management qualifying exam. I appeared for two exams, i.e. CAT and CMAT. I chose to study on my own with the help of various e-resources available on the Internet. Unfortunately, I could not score well in CAT but in CMAT, I scored well. After the CMAT results were declared, I was eligible for almost all management institutes across Delhi that accepts CMAT scores. I compared a few of them and realised that JIMS, Kalkaji was a better choice to make. Also, as a part of the admission process, the eligible applicants are required to undergo a Group Discussion and a Personal Interview round which is basically to understand more about students’ areas of interest and aspirations. I successfully cleared both the rounds and hence, I was offered the admission letter with a 10 per cent scholarship because of my CMAT scores.

I have just joined the college as a fresher. Unfortunately, because of the global pandemic situation due to Coronavirus, the classroom teachings have been moved to the online mode which has also become the new normal. So, as far as college experience is concerned, I’m yet to experience traditional college life. But our College is making every possible effort to give students the same experience as that of the classroom teachings in the online mode yet adhering to social distancing norms.
Talking about extracurricular, I had a great experience witnessing the Teacher’s day virtually. The students had prepared various games and titles for the teachers. Not only teachers day but we also had our freshers party virtually, which was quite a different experience for me.
Apart from the regular curriculum, there are many social clubs in the institute for students to explore their hidden talent. I am a part of the HR and NSS club. In the last two months, JIMS has been aggressively working on improving our presentation skills, communications skills and had made us prepare a lot of assignments also. These multi-tasking activities are making us prepare for the corporate world.
