Clinical research and healthcare professionals are grafted in various sectors like private practice; cooperative research groups; public and private academic institutions; pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies; Clinical Research Organizations (CROs); Site Management Organizations (SMOs); independent research and development organizations; and organizations involved in the management of clinical trials.

Before a drug can be marketed, it has to be verified for both safety and efficacy. To obtain this proof, pharmaceutical and biotechnological companies, assure that the drugs and biological products undergo the clinical trial or clinical study process. The clinical trials process encompasses a great deal of documentation, analysis, observation, and organization, hence a team of well-trained and qualified healthcare and clinical research professionals is involved in the administration and conduct of clinical trials honestly and effectively, in compliance with regulatory requirements.

On the other hand, role of clinical research professionals start from visiting the trial site before, after and during the study is in the process to gathering and completing the data after completion of the study, not only limited to this they also make sure that all protocols, GCP and other regulatory guidelines are followed. The clinical research professionals act as a link between the study’s sponsor (e.g., pharmaceutical or biotechnological company) and the facilities (Clinics, hospitals, research institutes etc.) where the studies are conducted. Healthcare and clinical research professionals are jointly accountable for conducting clinical trials.

The requirement of clinical research professionals is mandatory at each and every step of the clinical trial procedure, to produce effective results so the newly developed pharmaceutical, biological, medical devices and new methods of treatment can be used for the furtherance of society.

Currently, the whole world is going through a pandemic condition, which requires the public to be more aware and health care providers must come up with various strategies that they can follow to stay safe and manage health complications. They are the only person who can provide right information to the patients about possible medication for a particular indication and vaccination. Pandemic also accelerated the evolution of clinical trials so as the requirement of clinical research and healthcare professionals. We just cannot imagine overcoming this situation without them.
