The only challenge I faced was making the decision and transition to another industry, said Reez
Hospitality was not my first choice, but it turned out to be the right one. I was studying law before, planning to be in the IAS, IPS, or IFS. Volunteering in the Hospitality Team for the Law College Event, it was clear to me that I was doing something that I enjoyed. The Fact was so evident even my teachers were telling me the same, and also after talking to several people in the Hospitality Industry to have a better understanding and take the correct next step. It occurred to me that is something I would like to do and have a career in, my friend recommended me the college he was studying in i.e. VMSIIHE, so I took a campus tour, spoke to a few teachers and students to get a better understanding about the college, curriculum and industry. I then had enough information to come to the conclusion that I wanted to study here.
The Eligibility is for students who have passed Class 12. I had already answered the UGAT, which was not required for this college. I answered the college entrance exam and had an Interview with the Dean/ Director of the College, to get selected.
I did not take any coaching classes. The only challenge I faced was making the decision and transition to another industry, I can now proudly say, it paid off well!
My time in my college was a balance of Theoretical and Practical classes, which made me understand the fundamentals of Hospitality, i took part in extra curricular activities, events, ODC's, sports, competitions, etc. I liked attending all the classes because I was always learning something new and building a stronger base of knowledge about the industry from Core subjects to soft skills.
College has helped me improve myself, not just in hospitality but as a person.
The opportunities in Hospitality are infinite, the world is a playground, today you can apply for a job anywhere in the world. Each job, country, culture, people, challenges, etc. will help you learn something new and improve yourself.
The most important thing that i have learnt in college is that take criticism seriously, but not personally. If there is truth or merit in the criticism, try to learn from it. Otherwise, let it roll right off you.
My Future plan in the Hospitality Industry is to keep learning, connecting and giving back to it.
