Mystory@Anamika Gupta

I am the kind of person who works simultaneously towards multiple goals. So, when it was time to choose my stream in 11th standard, my mind was full of myriad of thoughts. Then I decided to do what I enjoy doing and at that time, my interest was in business. So, I decided to pursue Commerce. I performed really well in 11th and 12th standard and I won many academic competitions and Olympiads in the span of two years.

Making an informed career decision helps a lot in later years.

But after two years it was time to choose between a plethora of courses and colleges. I had a good score in 12th standard, so like most parents do my mom also wanted me to take admission in BCom (Hons) in a North Campus college in DU. But I wanted to explore my life. So, I spent a lot of time on various online platforms like Shiksha, quora etc. and then I decided that to pursue either IPM (IIM Indore) or BMS (SSCBS). The reasons for choosing these colleges were the course structure, admission process and the environment. I am the kind of person who craves for opportunities, and trust me when I say this, our college is full of opportunities for the seekers.

How I prepared for college admission

Tips and tricks of coaching institutes can do no good to us if we don’t give time to our studies.

I joined a coaching institute for entrance exam preparation but after one month when I appeared for the IPM Entrance Exam, I realised that only tips and tricks of coaching institutes can do no good to us if we don’t give time to our studies. Earlier a lot of my time was wasted in travelling. So, I decided to study at home for the JAT entrance. I learnt from everything during that one month of preparation at home. I started observing things and most importantly I started to form my opinion about different things.  The preparation phase of JAT turned out to be a personality development phase for me and then I was on cloud nine when I got selected for the GD and PI round. I couldn’t perform that well in PI round out of fear and hesitation. But then I rocked the GD round because I didn’t want to lose the chance of making it to my dream college.

How I made the most of my college years

Talking about my college routine at Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, I love to attend classes now. The 75% attendance issue doesn’t seem like a hurdle to me. That’s because I took time to explore the courses and course structure in my 12th standard. Making an informed career decision helps a lot in later years.

My college routine for the first year of Bachelors of Management Studies course involved street plays. I have performed at more than 40 different locations in a span of one year. The main motive behind that was to provide access to information to all. I strongly support the UN nation’s 4th goal of Quality Education for which I am working in an NGO for the past one year and I provide career related direction to students on the most trusted platform i.e. Shiksha. I like talking to people, hence, I join hands with different organizations and teams for organizing various events.

As business was my area of interest since class 10th, I also have the responsibility of taking care of all the financial aspects of my family business. In short, I never miss any opportunity that comes my way. I love to explore different fields and personalities and I would never get tired of thanking my college for the changes in me. CBS doesn’t only provide you with an academic degree but it provides an enriching experience that you can embrace for life.
