JGBS follows comprehensive evaluation system to understand the student's interest, says Ayushi
Ayushi Goyal, I am a final-year student of BBA (Hons) programme at Jindal Global Business School based out of Sonepat. Though I am originally from Agra, but, after schooling, I wanted to pursue graduation from a renowned university that could offer quality education and help me become industry-ready.
Every Class 12 student has to go through this difficult phase of career and college selection. By career selection, I mean the choice of the professional degree programme that they want to pursue. This is the most critical decision that defines the career I aspire i.e., Business management. I was none other than the rest of the students across the globe. So after Class 12, I started searching for good institutes near Delhi/NCR as I believe that Delhi has most of the renowned colleges that offer professional BBA (Hons) programme. My parameters were quite simple like updated curriculum, quality education, opportunities on campus, placements and internships. While searching for a good institution, I came to know about Jindal Global Business School based out of Sonepat. Before reaching out to the admissions committee, I wanted to go through students' reviews and feedback on various platforms and to the amaze most of the reviews shared by alumni and current year students were positive. So, here I decided to reach out to the university for admissions.

The admission process is very student-friendly. Candidates aspiring admission to the BBA (Hons) programme at JGBS, have to undergo either JSAT (Jindal Scholastic Aptitude Test) or any of the given nationally accepted management qualifying exam namely SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test)/ ACT (Americal Collge Testing)/ UGAT (AIMA Undergraduate Aptitude Test). Besides this, one has to have a minimum aggregate of 60 per cent in Class 10 and 12 for being eligible for the admissions. Further, the profile screening is done based on students’ academic performance, qualifying exam scores and a Personal Interview (PI) round. I completed the entire process and finally secured a seat in the programme. So here the most awaited journey of graduation days begins.
During the first year of college, we were exposed to many subjects such as Psychology and Sociology to which I used to think about what is the advantage of these subjects in a management programme. But later in the third year after a few live projects and internship experiences, I understood that there is an utter need for every manager to have these skills to be able to understand the psychology of all team members. Also, the school has many student-led committees such as SHC and anti-ragging committees where subjects like sociology help.

Talking about the faculty and the pedagogy of the school, so all the faculty members are well experienced in their domain. A lot of them have industrial experience also which proves to be beneficial during the classrooms. They share their real-life experiences, challenges they faced during their industrial experience and how did they manage to overcome them. They also educate us about the current trends and practices followed in the corporate world. I have always been an introverted person, and hence I lacked public speaking and presentation skills. But thanks to the faculty here and the courses on written analysis, communication and personality grooming skills which made me learn to make PowerPoint presentations and presenting the same to the whole class. Not just Group presentations, but we are also exposed to live projects, industry visits and a lot of case studies to experience the practical aspect of the concepts taught in class.
As a part of the mandatory internship experience, I got the opportunity to intern with Shiv Shakti Agro oils Ltd in Agra. I was working in the marketing department where I got to learn about the various marketing techniques, sales strategies, digital marketing, customer handling and how to conduct surveys. I did collect a lot of surveys after talking to the customers about their preferences in Agro oil. Similar to this my second internship experience was with Avyiana HR solutions pvt ltd, an HR consultancy that helps companies in recruitments and finding solutions to a lot of their HR-related problems. My job here was to reach out to the corporates across India and bring them on-board. Trust me, it was once in a lifetime kind of experience to learn both HR techniques and implement sales practices at the same time. Alongside, I have also been contributing to my family business in making promotion strategies and handling customers.

Apart from the regular curriculum and practical learning experiences shared above, we have had a lot of fun learning experiences too at the school. Some of these include cultural festivals such as Biswamil, Magnus and annual sports event. Student committee members organise all these events that witnessed high student participation. This enhances the leadership qualities in us. From organising to coordinating, managing and bringing sponsors on board is all done by students. Team management skills, leadership skills, operations, marketing and finance, all that we learn in classrooms, we practice here.
Jindal Global Business School has completely changed me as a person from who I was. With such an active curriculum and environment at the campus, I feel a lot more confident than ever before. Looking at the journey, I feel like it was just yesterday when I joined the programme but things have to move on. With life-changing experience, I now feel that I am ready to take up corporate career opportunities. I have also planned to go for a master’s programme later in life.
