Physics is one of the compulsory subjects of WBCHSE Science stream. Physics preparation involves practising numerical questions, drawing figures, and having a clear understanding of the concepts. The trick is consistent practice. After completing the syllabus and revision, the students must practise previous years’ question papers and give as many mock tests as possible to enhance speed and manage time. These tips often come in handy to prepare a proper schedule and score well in board exams. In this article, we will be discussing detailed tips to prepare for WBCHSE Class 12 Physics exam.
WBCHSE Physics Syllabus and Exam Pattern
According to WB 12th exam pattern, the exam duration for the examination is three hours and fifteen minutes. The total marks allocated for the examination is 100 — 70 marks for theory paper and 30 marks for the practical assessment.

Important Preparation Tips for WB Class 12 Physics Exam
The preparation for Class 12 Physics can seem a daunting task for students given the twisted nature of numerical questions and plethora of core concepts that students have to thoroughly understand before they get down to solving questions. However, a well-planned strategy can definitely organise your preparation better and put you on the right track. Here are few time-tested preparation tips for West Bengal Class 12 Physics examination.
- The students should focus on improving their mathematical skills by practising numerical problems. This will help in solving the numerical problems in Physics paper quickly and efficiently. In Physics, the questions are given in a twisted manner, so the students need to read and understand them carefully to quickly solve the problem.
- Another important thing to do is to first refer to the textbook as prescribed by the board and learn the topics accordingly. The exam mainly comprises questions from the Physics textbook. So, the students should focus on understanding all the concepts and practise the questions given at the end of each chapter.
- After completing the syllabus from the textbook, the students must go through the sample papers and practise them as well. The sample papers are mainly practised to improve time management for the exam. During the exam, the students should give sufficient time to reading, writing and then revising the paper.
- The next tip is on how to solve the derivation’s question. Every student should start the derivation question with a short introduction followed by all the required mathematical steps and then finally mention the result.
- For final revision a few days before the exam, the students can prepare some short notes of derivations as well as practise all the important diagrams and graphs along with their labelling. This will help in revising the syllabus quickly.
- Usually, the students lose marks on small errors such as mentioning the wrong SI unit. Therefore, they should practise writing the exam attentively, and make sure they do review their answer scripts carefully before submission.
- Time management is another key aspect to take an exam successfully. The students must maintain their speed from the beginning to ensure that all the questions are attempted. During the exam, the students can attempt the long questions first and then short ones, or choose to do the numerical problems first instead of theoretical ones or vice versa.
- In the Class 12 Physics board exam, the paper usually contains application-based and experiment-oriented questions. Therefore, the students must practise such type of questions thoroughly from the textbooks and the sample papers to score well in the exam.
- After going through the paper carefully, the students should decide which section to attempt first and mark the questions accordingly. Also, decide the time to be devoted to each section of the paper so that the exam can be completed on time.
- The key to preparing well for the board exams is staying positive and focussed. Make sure to relax as well. Take time off to do some exercises like running or meditation. This will surely help to stay fit and healthy during the exam.
