I am Srushti Manjunath Ullagaddi from Haveri and a final year B.E. student in Information Science and Engineering at Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology with a CGPA of 9.22. I am interested in learning new technologies and programming. I have worked on many projects which helped me gain practical knowledge and improve my skills. I enjoy taking part in college activities and volunteering. In my free time I read books, listen to music and love exploring nature.
Chapter 1. Describe in 200-300 words: How did you choose your course of study in school (class XI-XII)? What made you choose your current college/course (undergrad/post-grad)?
Getting admission to a good college was a challenge. When I was in 10th, I had no idea about which college to choose and my father wanted me to stay near my native place. So, I chose to join BRET college, which was near to us. I took PCMB combination because I was not sure about what to choose medical or engineering, so I wanted to keep both options open. There I studied hard and got 92% in Boards. In my 12th I decided to join Engineering because I was curious about the computers. The challenge was getting good college for Engineering. I also prepared for KCET, NEET and JEE.I could not clear NEET and JEE so I focused more on KCET and I got 38k rank. I cried a lot for getting this rank because I was not expecting this rank which I thought I would get good rank. I researched many colleges to go through KCET rank, there were many colleges but I chose Alva’s because it has vision, and one more reason is for Strictness so that I would work hard and focus more on goals. My father was happy with the decision because my sister was also studying a PUC at Alva’s by that time. Then I chose Information Science and Engineering branch because I was interested in computer and technology. I would say that choosing Alva’s became important turning point in my life.
Chapter 2. Describe in 200-300 words: How you cracked admission in your current college? What all entrance test(s) did you give? Any coaching classes that you took for preparation? Any other colleges that you were trying out for? What challenges did you face while opting for this college?
To get seat in good college, I wrote CET, NEET and JEE. I didn’t attend any coaching classes, I prepared myself for entrance tests. I studied hard, but I could not crack the JEE and NEET, so I joined engineering through KCET. My KCET rank was 38k. I was not happy with rank because I was expecting that I would get better rank. I felt disappointed by this and also, I became strong by thinking that I would work hard in the future and achieve my goals. Getting a seat in good college was challenge because I am the first person in my family who was joining Engineering, so there was nobody to guide me. Then somehow, I myself researched many colleges. I came across the Alva’s and asked other students who were studying, all were saying that college was good and strict as I also wanted a strict college, so that I would be more disciplined and focus on my goals, so this was the reason for choosing Alva’s for my Engineering and My father was happy with decision because he believed that Alvas is good and well-known college, as it was famous and also one more reason was my sister was also studying PUC in Alva’s by that time. That time was stressful, but it taught me one rank cannot decide my future.
Chapter 3. Describe in 300-500 words: How you spend your time at college? Which classes do you like to attend? Which extra-curricular activities are you a part of in college? If given a chance, what else would you want to do? How has your college experience changed you as a person? What opportunities do you see in future?
I was very excited for my first day of college. In the beginning there were Induction Programs which helped gain some knowledge about Engineering and also public speakers who were motivating us for a future Journey. I am naturally a bit introverted person. Every day I felt like I am learning new things because it was new experience, new place for me. When my classes started, I felt like I was in school, because all faculties taught in good and understandable way. I heard that in the college they do not care much about our studies but it was different here. Our faculties cared about studies and also mentored us a lot. In the beginning I had little knowledge about the technology, everything changed when I joined Edwin’s Lab. It gave me space to explore a new things and new technologies and also helped me to choose my domain. The coding journey started here. My favorite subject is Mathematics and I would love to attend maths classes because I was quick in solving the problems. If given a chance, I would like to learn and take part in public speaking Activities because I get nervous whenever I have to speak in Infront of many people. I have participated in Alva’s Pragathi as Volunteer where I got chance to meet Amazon HR as it came for hiring and learnt many things by this. I am lucky as I have joined ISE because it is combination of both technical and non-technical Activities which will be conducted. I am very excited for non-technical Activities like Kesard onji dina and film fests where I would love going for promotions. These are my lifetime memories where I enjoyed a lot and learnt leadership qualities. Initially I was little introvert, everything changed when I became volunteer and also soft skill training helped me improve myself and I became more confident and strong. I would say that I saw a newer version of myself. As I was in 3rd year, I got opportunity for placements by that time I was little nervous. I cleared the first round and also, we have final round I thought it would be difficult, but I cleared it too. I am very grateful to the placement team and head for giving this opportunity as it changed my life and also made my parents proud. The day when I got full-time offer was memorable and also, I cried because my dream was to make my parents happy. They were so happy that my parents cried on that day as they could not express their happiness, it was one of the unforgettable days for me. I know it was hard, but finally I made it. I see many opportunities ahead. The IT field keeps growing in areas like AI, cloud and so on. I want to grow as a Software Engineer and take up new challenges. I am really thankful to Alva’s for this opportunity and the confidence it gave me. I will carry those learnings for my lifetime.
Chapter 4. What do you plan in future?
My future plan is to become a skilled Software Engineer and keep learning new technologies. I want to use my skills to contribute to our country. I also want to guide other students who are new to this journey, as I know how confusing it feels when nobody is there to guide you. I want to keep growing and use my journey to encourage others. To those who come from village or small town, I would say that their rank or background does not decide their future. I would encourage them to work hard and guide them to achieve their goal.

Students are advised to attend the PPT for the desired company as it is the base step of preparation for that particular company. Therea
