Total Marks = 157/180

KCET % = (157 ÷ 180) × 100 = 87.22%

50% weightage of 87.22 = 43.61

PCM Marks

Total Marks = 288/300

PCM % = (288 ÷ 300) × 100 = 96.00%

50% weightage of 96% = 48%

Add both weightage - 43.61 + 48% = 91.61

With 91.61 marks, rank is expected to be between 3000 to 5000, depending on Karnataka CET marks vs cutoff, and other factors.

Example 2

KCET Marks: 117/180 - KCET % = 65.00%

PCM Marks: 292/300 - PCM % = 97.33%

How Important Are Board Marks in KCET Rank?

Many students tend to focus only on KCET preparation and underestimate their Class 12 (2nd PUC) performance. But in reality, board marks contribute 50% to your KCET rank, which makes them equally important.

Reason

Impact

50% weightage in the rank formula

Can affect your rank

High PCM marks can pull up a low KCET score

Improves chances of top colleges

Low PCM marks can pull down a good KCET score

Affects seat allotment

Reflects academic consistency

Gives you an edge in counselling

Thus, a strong board score can pull up a modest KCET score, and vice versa. Therefore, aim to balance both!
