A good experience with lots of memories.
Placements: The Department of Economics at B. Borooah College, Guwahati, is one of the oldest departments. The professors are very highly educated and knowledgeable. Almost 50% of students were placed in the course. Monthly seminars were being organized with the collaboration of banks such as SBI and RBI. Around 50% of students are being involved in different internship programs in different companies and NGOs while doing their graduation.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are well-built. B Boruah College, Guwahati, is one of the oldest colleges in Assam. The economics department is fully equipped with two separate classrooms for the major students. It has a department library where all kinds of study-related materials are available. There is a boys hostel right behind the college campus, but there? is no girls hostel as of now. Three times meals are being provided to the hostellers on time. There? is one canteen right beside the college library, which is always available for the students needs. Yearly college week events are organized by the student union during Feb-March. All kinds of sports and games activities are organized for the students to showcase their talents.
Faculty: Teachers in the colleges are very qualified and knowledgeable. They help us with every kind of problem the students face. Teachers are always available to solve any query regarding the course. Semester exams are held from time to time with advanced questions for the students to indulge in academically. Almost 90% of students pass the exams with flying colors.
Other: I was deeply interested in economics while in class 11-12, which led me to take economics as a major in my graduation. The best thing about the course is that it gives you a better perspective about the economic conditions of our country. How the country's economy works on the ground level. Although I wish that there were more professionals available for the course. The college organizes its college week every year with full enthusiasm for the students to excel not only academically but also in every other field.

It has good exposure and faculty members with affordable quality education.
Placements: Placements are not provided in our college for any major stream. Students applied for internships for external sources such as through references or through internship-providing platforms such as Internshala. However, it is worth mentioning that students from our college occupy major positions not just in regional, but also in the national and global field. We have alumni who are professors, politicians, sportspersons, singers, etc. The major man in the Assamese music industry named Zubeen Garg once studied in this college. Another major in the Bollywood film industry is Adil Hussain, who also studied in this college. In the political field, an alumnus of our college is Piyush Hazarika.
Infrastructure: Our college has adequate facilities required for the overall growth of the students. We have physics, biology and chemistry labs. The library has a reading, reference and borrowing section too. There were gyms available for the physical growth and training of the students.
Faculty: In terms of faculty members, it is one of the most renowned colleges in Guwahati and also in Assam. Faculty members are highly qualified, experienced and use discussion-based teaching to promote two-way communication. The curriculum is also relevant and provides students with the base required for higher studies. It also helped me to prepare for entrance exams in a better manner.
Other: I have chosen economics as a major in this college because of faculty members and the previous academic record of the department. We were also allowed to attend the classes before choosing the major. It is worth choosing economics as a major in this college. The thing that can be improved is the practical exposure. Even we had useful discussions and debates, a more practical approach such as industry exposure would have been more effective. Events conducted in our college are sports week, annual week, seminars, workshops, training, etc. Students are also encouraged to apply for scholarships, and the institute has a scholarship section in the office. Our college and its students have also represented the institute at various regional and national levels, be it fests, book fares, etc.

The college is excellent because of its infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: There are 60 seats available in our department. Since it is not a professional course, it does not provide any package, but it helps with studies. During this course, students get scholarships like Ishan Uday under NSP. Various internships are provided to students. Also, during their session, students have to enroll in various fields of study, surveys, etc.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, classrooms, and the library are all available. Students can use the departmental library. There is no girls' hostel, but there is one for boys. The infrastructure is good. Wi-Fi is also available in the library, and students can take books home for their studies. Overall, students receive all these benefits.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The curriculum is very relevant for a better understanding of our economy. It does not make students industry-ready, but it provides various information regarding the market and industrial knowledge. Exams are not too tough. About 30% marks are required to pass.

Satisfied with faculty, excellent infrastructure, and placement is good.
Placements: Around 20%-30% of students got placed from our senior batch. The highest package offered is around 5 LPA, while the lowest is 2 LPA, and average is nearly 2 LPA-2.5 LPA. Not many top companies come to our college, but some local firms and startups do visit the campus. Internships are somewhat good. Around 50%-60% of students got internships from our batch, and mostly in good companies, and some even had to arrange internships on their own. Roles are mostly related to data entry, research assistant, sales, or junior analyst. So overall, placement opportunities are there, but very limited.
Infrastructure: Classrooms and the library are decent, and Wi-Fi is available, but it is slow sometimes. I don't have any idea about the hostel rooms as our college has only a boys' hostel. Medical help is available when needed. Sports facilities are limited, but basic things are there. Overall, it's good.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and have good knowledge. Their teaching is understandable, and they support students. Teachers are very much accountable to the students. Our curriculum is also good. The placement facility should be improved along with the infrastructure.
Other: I chose this course because I am interested in economics and wanted to build my career in it. The best part is the helpful teachers and supportive environment. However, placements and internship opportunities should be improved. The campus crowd is decent. Connectivity is good, and some scholarships are also available. More extracurricular activities would make it better.
