For MBA, students cannot get direct entry to DoMS IIT Madras. There is a rigorous selection criteria set for the same which is inclusive of a valid score in CAT exam, students' past academic performance, performance in PI round, etc. For E-MBA and PGPEX-VLM, however, admission is offered based on the score in the entrance exam conducted by the institute.

In the recent placements at DoMS IIT Madras witnessed 100% placements with the highest and average package offered to MBA students stood at INR 30.60 and INR 20.19 LPA, respectively. As per the placement brochure 2023, the median package offered to MBA students stood at INR 20.40 LPA. Moreover, 26 companies participated in the MBA placement process and presented 42% PPOs to the students.

Aspirants must pass two to five years dual degree along with five years of managerial experience (for part-time & external) to apply for DoMS IIT Madras PhD course. Other than meeting the eligibility, candidates must have also qualified GATE/ CAT/ UGC-JRF/ UGC NET/ CSIR-JRF/ Research Aptitude Test, have an SOP and appear for the Personal Interview round for final selection. 

At the postgraduate (PG) level, DoMS IIT Madras offers Post-Doctoral Research, MBA, EMBA, PGPEX-VLM,  programmes, and dual degree MS courses to students. • For BTech, aspirants need to complete the application form for JEE (Main) through the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
• MTech candidates are required to register for GATE through the official website of the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS).

Further, for BSc and integrated courses, the applications are filled on the online portal of IIT Madras. The steps to fill IIT Madras application form are given below:

1. Visit the official website of IIT Madras. On its homepage, click on ‘Admissions’. From the drop-down menu that appears, click on ‘Announcements’.
2. The admission brochure, admission pamphlet and prospectus can be downloaded from this page. Click on ‘Apply Now’ button to proceed further.
3. Fill out the application form with all the mandatory details, including guardian info, address of communication, qualifications, etc.
4. Upload all the required documents in PDF format. Also, upload a passport-size photograph and signature and JPG/ JPEG format.
5. Conclude the application process by paying an application fee using a debit card/ credit card/ net banking.

IIT Madras MBA admission is based on candidates' performance in CAT, conducted by IIMs. Students seeking admission can apply online by visiting the official website of CAT. The final admission is granted based on CAT score, past academic record, work experience, performance in PI round, academic diversity, gender diversity and other achievements (if any). Apart from all these, for IIT Madras MBA admission, candidates also need to fulfil the minimum eligibility requirement.

The applications are available online only from the day after the CAT results are out. CAT exam 2023 result has been released in the last week of December 2023. Following the same, MBA applications have been started on the official website of DoMS IIT Madras and the last date to apply for the same is Jan 31.. Candidates meeting the minimum eligibility criteria with a valid CAT score can apply online. 

Candidates are offered admission in PhD course of DoMS IIT Madras based on academic performance, merit in the last qualifying exam, statement of purpose and research proposal. Selected aspirants are further called for interview session at the department. On the day of the interview, candidates may need to take the Research Aptitude Test.
