DoMS IIT Madras calls the selected candidates for PhD interview round. The first phase of interview is technical where the candidate is tested on the domain knowledge. The evaluation is done by the panel of faculty members in the area of specialisations selected by the candidates. The member evaluates the understanding of the aspirants in the domain.

Candidates are offered admission in PhD course of DoMS IIT Madras based on academic performance, merit in the last qualifying exam, statement of purpose and research proposal. Selected aspirants are further called for interview session at the department. On the day of the interview, candidates may need to take the Research Aptitude Test. 

Aspirants must pass two to five years dual degree along with five years of managerial experience (for part-time & external) to apply for DoMS IIT Madras PhD course.
